Colombia Graphs: Economic Status
Maharshee Roy
As we can see in this graph, the Colombian national debt pales in comparison to the national debt of the U.S. Both debts continue to rise, however the U.S national debt skyrockets at 2006 while Colombia's death gradually increases. Colombia is a poor country, so it does not spend nearly as much money as the U.S. The fact that it has a lower debt does not necessarily mean that it is in a better financial position than the U.S.
In this graph we see that both Colombia and the US started out with similar growth rates. However, the US began to dip down while Colombia rose to a very high point and then plummeted. Colombia however has not had any negative growth while the U.S has.
In this graph we see that the U.S has a much lower percentage of people below the poverty line while Colombia has nearly half its people there. However, the percent of people in poverty in Colombia is steadily dropping while the U.S grows.
