This Week in Advisory!

This week in Advisory, we will begin our first lesson in our Habitudes curriculum. Habitudes is a leadership curriculum that focuses on Habits and Attitudes necessary to lead yourself and others. It is created by Growing Leaders, a company we partner with to provide our students with these very relevant lessons. They use visual images to assist teens in connecting the social emotional concepts to the lesson. Each grade level completes a different book in the Habitudes Social Emotional Learning program. We will introduce a new Habitude every other Tuesday and reinforce the lesson on the Tuesdays in between - as we refer to each Tuesday in Advisory as Habituesdays! Each time a new Habitude is introduced, we will share the information on that lesson with parents in our parent letters below. This week's Habitudes by grade level are:

9th grade - The Iceberg

10th grade - Baggage Fees

11th grade - Windshield and Rearview Mirrors

12th grade - 3D Glasses

Our other priority in Advisory this week is our annual Naviance Needs Assessment. This is a requirement for ALL students to complete. Students will have Advisory time Wednesday-Friday to complete this task/

All seniors will attend a senior assembly during Advisory on Friday to introduce their Fall Fundraiser and vote on Prom themes.

Counseling Department Updates!

At this time, our course change deadline has passed and student requests for class changes have been completed. It is important to remember that students may not request customized class period changes for things such as lunch schedule, friend's schedule, or a teacher change.

Level down forms are now being accepted. Forms are available in the Counseling suite and require teacher and parent signature.

It's Time To Update Your Student's Information!

Monday is the LAST day to complete this task online. We will be sending home packets with all students that do not have updated online information.

The window for student verification is now open for all new and returning FBISD students. Parents must verify the contact and emergency information for all students each year! Through Family Access, parents can verify their student’s information and learn more about District resources including Child Nutrition and Extended Learning. Parents without Family Access accounts will need to contact their child’s campus for assistance.

Spirit Days!!!

We have several spirit days throughout the school year that we hope all of our Tigers will participate in! Each week to promote post-secondary plans we have College Wear Wednesday! We ask all students and Staffulty to wear a shirt representing their favorite college and/or military branch! We also believe that part of our strong school culture is that we all come together each week to show support for all of our Tigers so each week on Fridays - WE WEAR RED!

In addition to these spirit days that will last all year long, different weeks and seasons will have their own unique theme days as well. Throughout football season, we have "Theme Day Thursdays" where students are encouraged to dress in accordance with various themes to show support for our Tigers! The photo below is all of our Theme Day Thursdays for this fall as well as our game day themes for all games that do not fall on Thursdays! Friday games will always be RED OUT! And Thursday games will always match the Theme Day Thursday! Saturday games will vary throughout the season!

Parent Resource Corner

Vaping is often being referred to as an epidemic among teens. Our Tigers are no different than any other teens and many of them experiment with the various forms of vapes or e-cigarettes. We will be addressing the risks at school over the course of the year, but we encourage all parents to also educate themselves and have open discussions with your students regarding the dangers of vaping.

Below is one parent resource put out by the CDC.
