Art in Progress - Department Updates
First grade ceramic artists sculpted a pinch pot with a lid. A pinch pot is a simple form of hand-made pottery produced from ancient times to the present. The pinching method is used to create pottery that can be ornamental or functional and has been used across cultures and times. They also created a lid with texture by stepping on a ball of clay to imprint the pattern from the tread onto the clay.
From the Reading Corner, Library Department News
In the library, our Butler Bears have enjoyed reading and sharing many holiday stories this month of December. Here are some of our second graders loving their library time while reading a few holiday favorites and practicing reading aloud with a friend.

School Happenings
Holiday Sing at Butler - 12/22
Nothing beats celebrating the holiday season than our all-school sing-a-long the day before winter break - a long-time and treasured Butler tradition! Led by Ms. Griffin, Butler Music Teacher, students enjoyed singing songs, watching fun staff/student activities, and celebrating our respective holidays. We had contests and staff performances which were fun to see and hear - with a grand finale of Ms. Griffin (or very own Queen of Christmas) singing Maria Carey's All I Want for Christmas! as teachers volunteered in a staff band! Happy holidays!
