Curriculum Update
Writing- We will conclude the first part of our non-fiction writing unit. The students will turn in their Civil War final copies by Friday.
Social Studies- We will continue our Turn of the Century study by investigating the Cattle Drives and how they impacted the economy of our nation. We will also take a look at the routes taken by cowboys and how the moving of cattle from Texas via the railroad played into the concept of supply/demand.
Math - We will show what we know about multiplying and dividing decimals with a daily grade on Tuesday. From there we will begin our fractions unit. We will begin by looking at fractions as division and then learn to find equivalent fractions.
Science - We will finish up our life science units with a review test on Wednesday. The students worked on a study guide as part of their homework each day last week and we went over it together on Thursday and Friday. There is a lot of information, so it is important that the students take some time over the weekend to study their notes. On Thursday we will begin learning about Earth science with a unit on constructive and destructive forces that create landforms.
