Greetings, Ride Families!
Congratulations to our Art Teacher Extraordinaire, Mrs. Ashmore. She has embarked on an incredible journey to revolve her art curriculum around famous artist and each class will create a piece of art in that artist style. Recently, she submitted several student’s art work to the CISD Western Art Show. As a result, Ride was well represented at this year's CISD Western Art Show. Challengers brought home 5 blue ribbons and one white. Thank you, Mrs. Ashmore, for your commitment to teaching ART at Sally K. Ride.
Also, Mrs. Hodge just completed a Drum Fit unit where she and the kids use drum sticks, music and big balls to create a lot of exertion and FUN!! It was great to see all of the parents show up to support this event.
Movement, music and art are great examples of how Ride is using the Fine Arts and PE departments to help form well-balanced, well-rounded future leaders! They enhance communication, fine motor and gross motor skills, eye- hand coordination, problem solving skills, critical thinking and much more.
We are grateful to have such a strong program at Ride and appreciate all the Enrichment team teachers and their commitment to our Challengers.
Have a great weekend,
# We Include others, We SHOW Kindness, We SHOW Citizenship, We ARE Responsible, #We ARE Respectful, #We ARE Challengers!
Lost and Found Items
As we have cool mornings and warmer afternoons, we have noticed an increase in jackets and coats in the lost and found. Please remember to write your child’s name in their outerwear items and have them check the lost and found, located at the end of each grade level hallway. We tend to get many items left over, and I know these items easily get lost during transition or recess times. Please feel free to stop in after school if you would like to look for some lost items!
Ride Spirit Wear Shop is Open for Business!
We are so excited to tell you that we are open for shirt orders again for TWO WEEKS ONLY!
The final day to order will be 1/23 and you should have your shirts by 2/8!
One thing to note - all shirts are the same except for the long sleeve hoodie shuttle shirt. Due to stock issues we had to change that to a long sleeve shirt - no hood.
Once we close orders, we are not planning to reopen this school year, so place all your orders now!

Due to limited seating in the cafeteria, we are offering two options for lunch signups. You will have the opportunity to sign up to eat in the cafeteria with your child or outside in our gazebo/picnic table area. You will not be able to change locations after signup is complete. If you sign up to eat outside and it rains, you will be unable to move into the building due to limited seating. You may sign up for another day/time.
Each slot is available for two adults and the child you are eating lunch with..
Please see the schedule below for designated grade level lunch visitor’s days. Make sure that you sign up under the correct time slot for your child’s lunchtime. Each student may have a lunch visitor once every 3.5-week period. This ensures every parent has an opportunity to sign up. Remember to bring a valid id when you visit the building.
Due to limited seating in the cafeteria, we are asking all parents with small children to eat outside in the gazebo area.
