RE/MAX is No. 1 Real Estate Franchise Brand – 11 Years Running
Topping all other real estate franchise brands, RE/MAX earned the No. 15 spot in the 2019 Franchise Times Top 200+. It’s the 11th straight year RE/MAX has led all real estate franchise brands in the survey, which ranks franchise systems by global systemwide sales.
It’s also the 7th straight year RE/MAX has been in the top 15. RE/MAX joins brands including McDonald’s, 7-Eleven and Marriott Hotels & Resorts in the top 15.
The ranking reinforces the enduring quality behind the RE/MAX brand name.

How to Start Productivity Habits That Stick
If you’re looking to add productivity habits into your workday, like prioritizing important tasks first or engaging in deep (non-distracted) work daily, then good for you—you’re ahead of many. But if you’re struggling to make these habits stick, you’re far from alone. Below are four suggestions for making productivity habits stick.
Keep them attainable. The level of success you achieve will be based off your goals, and if your habit goals are massive, like wanting to engage in deep work for five hours a day, they are less likely to stick. Instead, make sure your habits are realistic and attainable, like one hour of deep work a day.
Schedule them. If you work well under deadlines, schedule your new productivity tasks. For instance, block off an hour at the beginning and end of the day for returning calls and answering emails that may sidetrack you earlier on.
Track your success. Make sure to keep track of your successes—even the small ones. By noting if you were indeed able to engage in deep work five days this week or successfully prioritize your task list, then you will be better able to measure your success rate on a larger scale (Did you get more done this week?), and these habits are more likely to stick around.
Plan for setbacks. If you accidentally drop that new habit for a day or two, build in time the following day to catch up. When looking at your calendar, if you can see a busy day coming up that may interfere with your new habit, gently shift your schedule, or try tweaking it by arriving at the office an hour earlier to catch up on those emails or calls.
Gradual Greatness
“You don't want to be the best at what you do. You want to be the only one who does what you do.”
Jerry Garcia,
(August 1, 1942 -- August 9, 1995) American musician with The Grateful Dead.
True greatness is not the result of a single, monumental act. It is earned through continuously applied effort over time. This is a good news/bad news situation, depending on your perspective.
The Bad News: If you've been taking refuge in the fantasy of "one day" or "starting tomorrow," you have nowhere to hide. No single deal, no one act will make you. You cannot plan one day to be great. You must start right here, right now, with the tools at hand and the skills you have available. If you are to be remarkable, you must do things which cause people to remark on your gifts-- whether it's your ingenuity, creativity, even-headedness, or generosity. It also means you must ask yourself with every action you take: Does this live up to my standard for greatness? Am I pursuing the best version of myself I know how to be?
The Good News: Greatness over time makes greatness more achievable. If, in everything you do, you merely ask the question, "How could I do this a bit better?" you'll find that improving your life and the lives of others is no longer a daunting task. Even a 1% improvement over time will result in tangible, substantial gains. If you're able to win by inches, it's remarkable how the miles add up.
So what will your next inch towards greatness be? Is there someone you can call and thank? Is there something you've always wanted to fix in your listing presentation? Is there a quick, helpful email message you can write? Would today be a good day to take someone to lunch?
Look for the slight edge in each activity, and before you know it, you'll be on your way to greatness.
3 tips for a more energy efficient home
The impact of climate change affects us all. Not only are the Earth’s temperatures rising, we are seeing more natural disasters as a result of the phenomenon and natural habitats are declining at an alarming rate. The good news is, there are small steps you can take for a more energy efficient home, that go beyond recycling and composting. Consider the following tips for going green:
Install a smart thermostat: Heating and cooling your home takes an immense amount of energy, and the costs can add up if not managed properly. With smart thermostats, you can program your HVAC system to work around your schedule, so that it’s only working when you’re home. Not only that, most smart thermostats can be controlled remotely, so you never have to wonder, “Did I turn off the heat?”
Switch to LEDs: While incandescent lighting has gone through several changes since their invention, most of the power used by bulbs produced today is converted into heat. Not only does that mean more power consumption, it means more unwanted heat in the home. Luckily, LEDs (light-emitting diodes) have become more readily available recently and significantly reduce energy use compared to traditional incandescent bulbs (and last much longer).
Use efficient bathroom fixtures: Water consumption is another aspect of greenifying your home. High-flow showerheads can waste a lot of water while bathing, so consider investing in one that allows you to change the flow setting. In the same way, traditional toilets use a lot of water (13.6 litres) when being flushed. In contrast, modern, high efficiency toilets, only use 5 litres.
This is only the starting point – there is much more that you can do for a more energy efficient home (such as the installation of solar panels). But small steps like these add up. And one of the best things about making your home more environmentally friendly: the resulting savings in utilities and energy use!

Marketing Strategy Tips: How to Get Super Hyper-Local
Hyper-local is the new name of the marketing game—the latest soup du jour of solid small business strategy. In real estate, it’s an essential tool, since a real estate agent’s target audience is more likely than not extremely hyper-local. You’re looking to not just reach your town, but maybe even one neighborhood or one street.
So, if you’re an agent, ask yourself: “Am I doing all that I need to in order to effectively capture my local audience?” If the answer is yes, hopefully you can splash in some of the ideas below. If the answer is no, then here’s a great place to start!
You = a guide genie.
Build guides for local activities and promote them! Living in wine country? Great—how about a map with all of your favorite wineries they absolutely can’t miss? Living in a particularly beautiful area when it comes to the great outdoors? How about list of locations of the best trailheads for dog- and kid-friendly hikes? How about the ultimate guide to craft breweries or farmer’s markets? The list goes on!
Host a Q&A wine night.
Chances are, your neighbors and those in your sphere of influence are always curious about their home’s value (and if not, they should be). Host a wine (or beer or cider or pizza) night to answer any and all questions they may have and use it as an opportunity to educate them. They might not know how much their home is worth, and, with everything that’s going on in the housing market right now and expected in the future, they will likely want to hear from a local professional.
Always be running ads.
This one might seem obvious, but unless you’re on top of it and always checking your ads to make sure they’re still running efficiently, this can easily fall off the rails. While Facebook is constantly updating their advertising policies, it is still a very effective tool for real estate. Set a calendar reminder or task for yourself at the same time on the same day each week and make sure your online ads, whether through your own efforts or through great tools like Promote, are performing as well as they should be.
Hold a contest.
Who doesn’t love a friendly neighborhood contest? This fall, plan on holding a pumpkin-carving contest for everyone in your neighborhood, or even a decorating contest during Halloween or later in the holiday season. This is a great way to get to know everyone and have a little fun along the way!
