Lakeview School Goals
This year, our overall goals are listed in the picture, and here is an explanation:
Goal #1 - Academic Growth & Achievement - we are focusing as a school on foundational reading skills as well as foundational number skills in order to close gaps.
Goal #2 - Belonging and Care - we are focusing as a school on a systematic way to teach, reinforce, and respond to expectations. We now have a PBIS (Positive Behavior and Intervention Supports) system in place and collect data about Golden Lions and unexpected behaviors.
Goal #3 - Attendance - We are truly trying to engage families in the importance of consistent attendance. This was tricky pre-Covid, and has been especially hard lately. Therefore, we are building new systems to improve the attendance of every student.
Goal #4 - Staff engagement - Continue to improve the effectiveness of our educator teams by focusing on collective commitments and empowerment.
We look forward to updating you more on our goals as we go through the year.

Golden Lions this week
Here are the Lakeview Golden Lions for this week. We had 20 examples of being safe, respectful, and engaged!
• Ella noticed another kindergartner who needed a friend. She walked across the playground, gently took the new friend's hand and asked if she would like to play with her and a few other friends. The girls joined hands and walked to the equipment while chatting and becoming friends. Thank you, Ella!
• Peyton was very engaged and listening intently during our Read Aloud. She was also so kind that she made me a copy of the recipe from the book to make Fry Bread at home with my family!
• Thank you, Team, for picking up the mess in the lunchroom even when you were not responsible for making the mess. It shows that you care about the school and it helps to make Mr. Rob's job easier.
• I have noticed that you have shown that you are ready for learning by being on the rug, sitting in your square, on your bottom, and eyes on the speaker. Thank you for setting a good example for others.
• Sophie was engaged in reading her non-fiction text. She was able to give a very concise summary of the main details about Milton Hershey including his motivation to keep improving. Way to go Sophie!
• Mia always works hard and tries her very best! She has been working very hard to learn all the letter names and their sounds! Mia is so close to knowing them ALL in a snap! Keep up the great work, Mia!
• When two students had a disagreement in gym, Kiyus was a peacemaker and helped solve their problem.
• Emma diligently did her work for reading group and not only marked her answers but went back in the text to highlight her evidence. Emma thank you for being a conscientious student.
• Sylis was completely engaged in his independent W.I.N. work. He also showed compassion when another student was frustrated when he couldn't find his supplies. Sylis quietly offered the student his own supplies. Thanks for being so kind and caring.
• During Math Workshop, John noticed some of his friends needed help organizing data into categories to make a pictograph. He gathered his friends together and asked them questions which helped them be successful. Way to be a great leader, John!
• Kaidence was so focused during Writer's Workshop yesterday. She was using what she has learned about writing an informational text to teach her readers all about her topic. Keep up the great work, Kaidence!
• Ryan did such an awesome job being kind and patient while helping a classmate whom was having a rough moment. That compassion was so amazing, and made more of an impact that you realize! Thanks of sharing your kind heart!
• Londyn perservered through a variety of math problems. She never gave up and tried a variety of strategies to be successful. I am SO proud of you Londyn!!
• Brooke does a great job during large group activities on the carpet. She shows engagement by listening to the speaker and raising her hand. Awesome job being respectful and engaged in class!
• Dora has been working really hard during Writer’s Workshop! She makes connections to her Lexia lessons when writing. She demonstrates engagement and focus while working on her nonfiction book about Red Foxes. Keep up the awesome work!
• A student spilled her pencil box on the floor. Cam was the one student who noticed her cleaning up a big mess by herself. He quietly walked over and helped her clean up the mess. Thanks Cam for being a helpful and respectful student!
• Anthony independently wrote a full How To story and used his writing tools to help him with sounds. Nice work, Anthony!
• Jace is very kind and thoughtful young man. He offers to help others, including adults, when he sees that extra help might be needed. He is patient with his classmates, recognizing we are all unique and accepting of the differences of others. Thanks for helping to make our classroom a great place to be!
• Deondre showed empathy and kindness when he was playing a math game with another student. Thank you so much for being a positive member of our 5th grade community!!
• After our math lesson, Ms. Lund noticed that Lincoln walked to his table spot, was level 0 and completed his math work correctly. He was so focused that he was even able to finish his math work from the day before. Way to go, Lincoln!
