GoCAPS Program Provides Unique Learning Experiences
Bolivar is a partner school of GoCAPS, a unique opportunity that has students learning in professional settings. Currently, there are three strands: engineering/manufacturing, medical, and entrepreneurship. Next year, there will also be an information technology strand. The video below is an excellent overview of the program. Several BHS students are included.
We encourage students to consider if this is something they might be interested in for next year. The program is open to juniors and seniors. Our college and career counselor, Michelle Darby, coordinates this program with our students.

Semester Finals are December 14-17
All classes at BHS are required to give a semester final. The final exam may be comprehensive or may be a unit test. The final might also be a project, or presentation, or a written response to a writing prompt.
Requests to take finals early
All students are expected to be present in classes throughout finals week; however, occasionally there are extenuating circumstances that require a student to miss one or more finals. In that case, students must complete a pre-arranged absence form and have it signed by a parent. The student will then need to present the form to one of the principals for approval. Once approval is granted by administration, the student will take the pre-arranged absence form to each teacher to request an alternate date for taking finals. Finals must be scheduled at a time that is satisfactory to the teacher.
Finals exempt attendance incentive
Students who have 95% attendance year-to-date will be eligible to opt-out of one semester final.
- The student will have the ability to choose which final they will opt not to take. However, the student must have a grade of at least 80% in order to opt-out of that final.
- Dual-credit courses will not be eligible for the opt-out.
- EOC tested courses will not be eligible for the opt-out.
- Students must follow all procedures to use this incentive. Specifically, students must meet deadlines in presenting their teacher with the opt-out form declaring their intent to not take the final in one class.
