Special Education Program Spotlight: LINCS
LINCS is a Special Education Program for 18-21 year olds who have met the requirements for education, but who have yet to complete their IEP Goals.
LINCS Mission
- To prepare individuals with disabilities to reach their maximum potential of independence;
- To educate individuals to be responsible, productive citizens;
- To assist individuals to understand themselves and to become empowered to make informed decisions regarding their future;
- To collaborate with individuals, families, and the community to provide a continuum of services.
Special Education Advisory Council
Meeting Notes Summary
Meeting Date: Monday, September 25, 2023
Welcome Introductions- Ascendra Donald (Student Services Director) welcomed everyone and described the purpose of the SpEd advisory council.
Overview of SpEd Programs- LaKrystal Mcknight (Elementary SpEd Coordinator) and Dr. Sandy VanCise (LHS Assistant Principal/Secondary SpEd Coordinator) described SpEd programming available for elementary and secondary students in the district.
Team Discussion- The team discussed the mission and goals for the school year. Mission: To raise awareness of Lansing USD 469 SpEd programming and share resources with families. Goals: Start a SpEd PTA. Offer family engagement activities. Establish community partnerships.
Next Meeting: Monday, November 27th, at 4:30, at the Lansing USD 469 District Office. Team membership is required to attend.
