The Resilience of Riviera
The biggest challenge for most teachers has been to keep their lessons as engaging and entertaining as possible for the students while following physical distancing protocols. Teachers have worked extensive hours to redesign their learning environment with new online resources and tools that still allow for student engagement and understanding of the material in a creative fashion. Teachers, like Ms. Sanchez, have resorted to interactive virtual simulation games accessible on icivics.org to help students understand concepts like the election process, the three branches of government, and the U.S. Bill of Rights. In dance technique class, Ms. Rodriguez's dancers are learning routines on zoom and then submitting recordings of their advancements in their art. Math class with Mrs. Gonzalez is engaging for our 6th graders as they use their interactive textbooks to learn and seamlessly complete the advanced level curriculum. Science labs are still being conducted by students both at home and on campus with easy house-hold items students can find in their kitchens. Our clubs, honor societies, and student organizations still hold meetings and accomplish their goals of giving back to our community.
Technology has been a crucial resource during these unprecedented times as we have relied on it greatly to allow us to come together and work collaboratively in all aspects of our school life. Aside from using our advanced technology resources in class, students and teachers use them daily to communicate for the various clubs and honor societies that we are still offering at the Prep campus. Needless to say, our teachers have exercised a multitude of ways to continue the unique learning environment that Riviera offers while our students continue to thrive in their daily academics and extracurricular activities. The perseverance of our Bulldogs throughout these times displays the magnitude of their determination and desire to continue growing and becoming better every day.

A sweet treat for the seniors
The second semester of this academic school year is well underway, and for our seniors, that means their last few months at Riviera are quickly approaching. In previous years, the second semester is always a highlight of the school year for the graduating class because there are certain traditions they look forward to. Though this school year has presented many challenges in order to keep the tradition alive in a different manner, Riviera is determined to make these final few months as special and memorable as possible for the Class of 2021. On Thursday, the seniors were surprised at lunchtime with a sweet treat of delicious sugar cookies custom made just for our graduates. A special thank you to senior parent, Ms. Pandey, who donated the delicious treats for our seniors!
