Please also review the following link which highlights basic guidelines for when your child is sick.
Illness In General/ Flu Information
I want to highlight a few pieces of information from these links:
-Most experts believe that flu viruses spread mainly by tiny droplets made when people with flu cough, sneeze or talk. These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby. Less often, a person might also get flu by touching a surface or object that has flu virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes.
-You may be able to pass on the flu to someone else before you know you are sick, as well as while you are sick. Although people with the flu are most contagious in the first 3-4 days after their illness begins, some otherwise healthy adults may be able to infect others beginning 1 day before symptoms develop and up to 5 to 7 days after becoming sick. Some people, especially young children and people with weakened immune systems, might be able to infect others with flu viruses for an even longer time.
-The first and most important step in preventing flu is to get a flu vaccination each year. CDC also recommends everyday preventive actions (like staying away from people who are sick, covering coughs and sneezes and frequent hand washing) to help slow the spread of germs that cause respiratory (nose, throat, and lungs) illnesses, like flu.

Full Day Kindergarten Lottery Registration Is Open
The registration for the Full Day Kindergarten Lottery is open. Please see the link below for further information.
A few things to be aware of:
- In addition to submitting the Kindergarten registration paperwork to school secretaries, families MUST also register on-line to be entered into the Full Day Kindergarten registration. The Full Day registration link can be found off of the WRSD main website www.wrsd.net and clicking on Full Day Kindergarten Information.
- Lottery Registration closes on March 16th. The lottery will be held on Friday, March 30th at 4:00 in the Central Office Curriculum Center (1745 Main Street, Jefferson). Families do not need to attend the lottery. The lottery for all schools takes less than 1/2 hour to call all names. If a parent is not present at the lottery, the families will be notified via email/mail the following week.
- Tuition information (cost and payment plans) are outlined on the Full Day registration page. http://www.wrsd.net/fulldayk.cfm

BOXTOPS
As we enter 2018, please keep those BoxTops submissions coming in! We hope to raise $2000 this school year via BoxTops (We earned approximately $900 with our first submission earlier this fall). Once a month the PTA has a raffle for students who submit BoxTops where the top three winners earn "Dragon Bucks" for the School Store.
The next submission date is April 1st... meaning that we need as many BoxTops as we can get prior to mid-March if we are to meet our goal.
Thank you!
