Glenealy School Newsletter
4th February 2021
Message from Chris
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
I hope that you have all had a good week - it has been another busy one both on-site and online for our learners.
As you will have seen in the announcement from EDB, we are able to bring back up to 1/3rd of our school capacity after Chinese New Year. This means that we are pleased to be able to bring back into school 6 classes each day for a half day. I am certain that being able to increase our children’s time on site will be very much welcomed by our whole school community.
This new EDB announcement will result in another iteration of our ‘on-site’ and ‘off-site’ learning schedules. We will share our plan with parents on Monday next week with the schedule for times back in school for all classes after Chinese New Year.
As was mentioned in the ESF message that you will have received earlier today, you may be aware of reports in the media of other return-to-school options, involving COVID-19 testing for all staff members. ESF will take time to explore all options fully regarding this, and will update you accordingly.
Heading, as we are, into the Chinese New Year break next week, I want to once again extend our thanks to all our parents for supporting the school and our staff team during this time of continuous change. As a reminder Wednesday next week is the last day of school in this half term with us returning on Monday 22nd February 2021.
Mid-Year Reports go live on Gateway
We are pleased to let you know that, immediately prior to Chinese New Year, our Mid-Year Reports will go live on Gateway.
Most of you will be very familiar with accessing reports online. As a reminder or for those of you new to Glenealy this year (who joined Glenealy prior to November 2020) to locate your child’s report on Gateway once you have logged in, click on ARR Report (the button is located under your child's photo) and choose Mid-Year Report 2020 - 2021.
In addition to these Mid-Year reports, and to help build a picture of how children are progressing in school, we will be holding parent conferences in March. These will be held via Zoom. For Years 3,4,5 and 6 these will be three way conferences which will involve your child also reflecting on the progress they have made. For Years 1 and 2 these will be regular parent/ teacher conferences. Further information about how to book these parent conferences will be shared when we return to school after Chinese New Year.
