In The Classroom...
Has your child come home talking about persuasive letters? We have been learning about this type of writing and how its purpose is to convince or change someone's mind. We wrote a class letter to Mrs. Miller then the children wrote one to me. They were pretty cute! Next week they will write a persuasive letter to Santa convincing him that they've been good this year. I can't wait to see their reasons! We will mail these in our classroom mailbox and hopefully Santa's elves will pick them up. We'll have to wait and see.
Ask your child what compare means? We have had fun learning about this vocabulary word and exploring how you can compare across content areas. We've made lots of comparisons especially in math. The kids have be learning to identify the less than < and greater than > symbols and using them to compare numbers. Next week we will be looking closer at place value and how numbers are made of digits. We will keep our focus on tens and ones.
We were super psyched to balance a pencil on its tip in Science. Yes, that's right!!! We made a pencil balance on its tip. You can check out our video on Vimeo; we had so much fun. Here is the link: https://vimeo.com/305327041 (The video is also embedded below this section where you can watch it within our newsletter).
Please be sure to read the NOTES section for important information and events that are happening in our classroom.
Stay warm and have fun in the snow!
