Attendance Update
#1 - School starts at 8:30 (we still have people who believe 8:35 is the start time),
#2 - We provide supervision on the playground at 8:15.
When I tell families that are consistently tardy about our before school supervision, they are truly shocked. Please take time on Monday to tell your whole class to come play with friends for a few minutes in the morning and they will automatically be on time for school. But don't have this conversation during nutrition break, since the student(s) that might need to hear this may not have arrived yet.
101 students have been tardy at least once this year (this includes 4K).
47 of those same students have been tardy more than once.
Anything you can do to help is truly appreciated - feel free to talk to specific families about tardiness and attendance at 3:35 pickup as well.

Homework & Newsletters
This is a great reminder that the content of our grade-level newsletters for families should mostly be future focused. Tell families what you are doing the upcoming week and what homework students should be doing. Consider including your most important learning target or teaching point from the upcoming week so that families can reinforce it at home.
From the Bookroom Committee
Thank you so much to everyone who has utilized and helped maintain the organization of the Bookroom. With the year starting out, the Bookroom Committee wanted to give a few quick reminders if books happen to get lost.
*If a book happens to get lost, there are slips on the table in the Bookroom to place in the pocket of the preview book to indicate how many are missing. (see pictures)
*If you know what student home the book may be lost in, there are slips that can be sent home to families. If the book never returns we can request a replacement.
*If you have any comments, questions or feedback there is a Lakeview Bookroom Feedback google doc available.
Thank you again for all your help in keeping these resources in great condition for students!

Structural Items
Shredder - Our newest staff member is ill-tempered, tends to react negatively to any stimulus that gets near it, steals from people's hands, and destroys property. Please welcome the shredder that lives next to the copy machine. Please only shred confidential things and place non-confidential paper into the shredder's mortal enemy, the good-natured recycle bucket. We no longer have the big bucket that used to stand by the bathroom. It has gone to that big recycling center in the sky.
Golden Lions - Only send students to the office between the hours of 9-2 for Golden Lions, please.
Educator Effectiveness - those on summary year should complete their self-assessment forms by next Friday, October 18. Nobody should complete SLO's or PPG's yet. Wondering what year you are? Here you go!
Lakeview Lift-ups - When Christina left last year, our Lakeview lift-ups ended. I was missing them, and then another staff member mentioned the same thing to me the other day. If anyone wants to coordinate the weekly Lakeview Lift-up (a way to compliment colleagues in a public way), please let me know. I'd be happy to create the Google Form with you if needed.
Morning announcements - We will try to start earlier at 8:40. The mindfulness moments have been welcomed in many places, but I also know it is hard to finish breakfast in time. We will continue the mindfulness moments on most days, hopefully varying the script and getting students to lead it as well.
Halloween - This is the annual reminder that we do not do anything for Halloween. No costumes. We just keep it a normal day of learning as much as possible.
Personal Day Blackouts - As we did last year, here is a link to blackout days for elementary personal days. The principals do this proactively to be sure that we have enough subs on any given day. At this point, there are very few elementary-specific dates listed, but I will leave this link in the newsletter so you can check in advance of submitting personal days.
