Keeping our school community informed #FalconFamily
Principal's Corner
Dear Hilltop Middle School Parents and Students,
I am very honored and privileged to share with you that I will be serving as the interim principal of Hilltop Middle School until the end of the 2021-22 school year. As you may know, I previously served as your interim principal during last school year, and I have developed a great affinity for the Hilltop Middle School students, staff, parents, and community. The Falcon family has been very welcoming, and I truly enjoy being able to be here and hopefully playing a small part in helping our students and staff continue our relentless pursuit of excellence.
At the conclusion of this school year, Hilltop Middle School and the Sweetwater District will go through the process of selecting the new principal so whomever the candidate may be will have ample time to be prepared to begin the 2022-23 school year.
One of our top priorities is to continue to provide our students with the most safe and secure learning environment. As part of this effort, the Sweetwater District has partnered with San Diego State University and the National Institute of Health in a study which focuses upon providing students and their families with free COVID home testing kits in an effort to monitor and control the spread of the COVID virus.
On April 13 at 8:30 AM, I and my administrative team will be conducting a virtual Coffee with the Principal so we also can address and follow up on how our students and families can be involved in the COVID home test study. I encourage all of you to participate. Here is the link for joining our meeting on April 13.
As we approach the end of the school year, I know many of our eighth-grade students and parents are excited about participating in our eighth grade promotion. The Hilltop Middle School promotion will be held on June 1 at 11:30 AM at Hilltop High School. We would like as many eighth graders as possible to be involved in this event, but it is important to realize that in order to participate, each eighth grader must meet the district’s promotion requirements. Please check your students’ academic progress, and if you have any questions, feel free to contact our counseling department.
It also is important to remember that participating in any of the end-of-the-year events is a privilege not a right, and this includes the eighth grade promotional exercise and field trips. Students involved in any disciplinary issues run the risk of jeopardizing their opportunity to participate in these end-of-year activities.
Everyone at Hilltop Middle School wishes to have a very successful, peaceful, and happy end to this school year. Please join us in this effort, and encourage your students to keep their grades up, to act responsibly, and to show their Falcon Pride.
Best Regards,
Tom Rodrigo

Can you believe we only have 44 days of the 2021-2022 school year remaining!? Do your best to make these last two months really count. Complete your work, spend quality time with your true friends and take advantage of the clubs, services and activities our school has to offer. Ask questions, connect with your teachers and do everything it takes to close out the year on top.
