WELCOME TO THE 2017-2018 SCHOOL YEAR, WOLVES!
AP Scholars
Congratulations to Chandler High’s 2017 AP (Advanced Placement) Scholars! 125 Wolves earned Scholar distinction and averaged 3.51 on AP Exams taken last May. Excellent work!
- Sixty-eight AP Scholars, receiving scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams.
- Eighteen AP Scholars with Honor for receiving an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams.
- Thirty-nine AP Scholars with Distinction for receiving an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.
- Eight National AP Scholars for receiving an average score of at least 4 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams.
- Gillian Harrill (pictured) was recognized as an AP International Diploma Scholar for receiving scores of 3 or higher on five or more AP Exams in three or more subject areas and meeting additional CollegeBoard requirements.
FRESHMAN ORIENTATION
Link Crew, a spirited group of CHS Juniors and Seniors, hosted approximately 600 freshmen last Friday for Freshman Orientation. Link Crew led the Class of 2021 through a number of activities and acclimated them to the campus and CHS culture. It was an awesome event! Thanks to Link Crew and the numerous CHS Teachers who work closely with the group!
STUDENT COUNCIL
CHS’s Student Council participated in “Work Week” last week and assisted teachers in their classrooms, decorated bulletin boards, filmed the “Back to School” video, helped with Wolf Days, and completed committee work to make 2017-18 a great year. Thanks to StuCo and Mr. Gray for all of their hard work!

OUTSTANDING WRESTLER
Sophomore Chris Kelly was named the Outstanding Wrestler of the USA Wrestling West Regional Championships held in June in Pocatello, ID.
WOLVES RANKED #11 NATIONALLY
The Chandler Wolves will start the season ranked #11 in the country, according to High School Football America’s Preseason Top 100. Get your Chandler gear ready and prepare to cheer our team on to another state title in 2017! Go Wolves!
FALL SPORTS
Football starts on Monday, July 24th. All other fall sports (Football, Cheer, 9th Grade Tennis, Golf, Cross Country, Badminton, Girls Volleyball) tryouts begin on August 7th. Athletic packets can be picked up in the athletic office in Old Main #113. Students need to have a current physical and completed paperwork turned in to the athletic office prior to the first day of tryouts.
FRESHMAN POOL PARTY
CHS Link Crew is sponsoring a Freshman Pool Party on Friday, August 4th from 2:15-4:00pm at the CHS pool. The event is free and will be a ton of fun!
OPEN HOUSE
CHS will host Open House on Thursday, August 3rd beginning at 6:00pm. Parents, please plan on attending the opening meeting in the CCA to meet administrators and counselors and hear an overview of the numerous programs CHS has to offer. From 6:35-8:15pm, parents are invited to visit classrooms (by class period) as well as displays in the 100 and 500 building hallways.
IB-MYP NEWS
9th grade parents interested in learning more about the IB Middle Years Program: Informational meeting in the Media Center on Tuesday, August 15 at 6:00pm. Freshmen who are taking Honors English and a World Language class are eligible to be IB MYP students.
The first IB Parent Booster meeting of the year will be on Tuesday, August 15th at 7pm in the Media Center. Parents of students in IB classes in all grades are welcome! Our guest speaker will be going over the ins and outs of PSAT, SAT and ACT testing and helping us understand who should test when and how to best prepare.

CHS CLUB FAIR
CHS offers over 80 opportunities for students to be involved in extra-curricular activities, and every student is encouraged to join at least one club or sport. Clubs will be on display during both lunches on Wednesday and Thursday, August 9th and 10th. Check out what CHS has to offer and sign up!
AVID PARTNERSHIP
Thank you to Allstate volunteer Robert Gallego for being a positive force for change in our community. Robert Gallego gave his time and enabled CHS AVID to receive an Allstate Foundation Helping Hands in the Community grant. The Allstate Foundation supports the causes that Allstate agency owners, financial specialists and employees care about most by providing “Helping Hands in the Community” grants to nonprofits where they volunteer their time to bring out the good in their communities.
