The Chambers Ireland Corporate Social Responsibility Awards were established in 2004 to recognise the work being carried out by Irish and multinational companies to improve the lives of their employees and to enhance the civic environment in which they operate.
This is a unique competition that offers the business community a chance to promote their efforts in CSR and gain recognition for best practice.
The awards are presented in a variety of categories covering all areas of CSR.
Now in their eleventh year, the Awards are run in association with the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government, partnered by Business in the Community Ireland and kindly sponsored by BAM.
Carlow again honoured for promotion of Irish
The Glór na nGael national awards and prizes for the year 2013 have been announced and Carlow is once again amongst the prizewinners.
In the category for towns of over 10,000 population Carlow Town has been awarded 3rd place and €3,000 in prize money.
The Carlow Nationalist has picked up a special recognition award for its tremendous support and exposure of the Irish language and all things Irish in the community. According to the adjudicating panel the extensive coverage in print and picture ‘as Gaeilge’ and in English in the newspaper down through the years has been a great boost to Glór Cheatharlach as it continues to promote the language and culture . The leathanach Gaeilge or Irish language page which is published in the Nationalist each week received special mention.
