Term 3 - Week 4 - Thursday August 6, 2020
From the Principal's Desk…
Dear Parents and Carers,
WOW – what a crazy two weeks. Changing to Stage four restrictions has brought a new set of challenges for our community.
Staff will now be working predominately off site – running a full remote learning program. This includes Google classroom, DAILY whole class and small group webex sessions with explicit teaching and modelling. I know that many of our teachers have also created hard packs of work for their students to complete. We will continue to operate our Wellbeing Wednesday so families can have a break from screen time.
The school office will be closed with only one staff member there each day to answer the phones – this will be a rostered basis.
Last night I viewed the photos that Dan Andrews had posted of the city – a sight I never thought I would see. It was empty, no traffic or people. It brought home to me again the severity of the situation we are now all in.
I know this is a very hard time for everyone in the community. We as your school will endeavour to do all that we can to support you and your children. Our students are at the forefront of everything that we do. There are some students that will continue to be on site on different days dependent upon the work their parents are involved in. These students will also participate in the remote learning program but from the library. There will be a class teacher and an integration aide onsite every day to assist these students with understanding their schedule and work content. We will conduct temperature checks upon arrival, continue with hand sanitising and good hygiene practices. If we do have a direct contact from anyone with COVID, staff, parents or student the school will be closed for deep cleaning. (I hope that this never eventuates)
On a much brighter and happier note the staff have class awards to share in this newsletter and I look forward to sharing pieces of work with you on a regular basis.
As always please take care, stay well and I will continue to advise you of any developments that occur.
Regards,
Tracey Robertson-Smith
