All About Snowflakes
Before we made our snowflakes, we read the book, Snowflake Bentley. We learned what determines the shape of a snowflake, how snowflakes form, where they begin, how many branches a snowflake has and so much more.
Are You Ready for 3D Printing?
Lydia Middleton students are about to experience 3D design and printing!
More info to be included in our next newsletter. Stay tuned!
iPad Apps
Puffin Academy
We are so excited about this new (new to us) app. Students will now have access to one of our favorite award-winning websites ABCYa! Thanks to Mrs. Clerkin for coming across this gem.
The Puffin app is already a well-known and reliable Flash browser that has been available for the iPad for some time now, but the Academy version is relatively recent. It is a filtered, educational browser and only specifically approved content is accessible through the app. Anyone who wants to have their content featured on Puffin Academy has to apply and be vetted before they are accepted as a content partner.
Free ABC Mouse
Thanks, Mrs. Clerkin!
Rolling Returns
We have a fantastic group of students that will come around to each classroom to pick up library books that are ready to be returned.
Please bear with us as there will be kinks (computers!) to work out. We promise to work hard to make this a useful service for our teachers.
Thank you to our Learning Commons Leader Mrs. Schmitt for this awesome idea.
NEW BOOKS
Happy reading!
About Us
- Get students excited about the library space and learning.
- Give students opportunities to work on engaging tasks.
- Provide spaces to work collaboratively, think critically, and creatively.
Also, to transition to a place where students DO stuff, not simply a place where students GET stuff.
