It's Fun to "BEE" a Researcher!
BES/BIS LINC students have been researching bees and other pollinators. The students used their research facts to create Google slide shows. This gained knowledge about pollinators will also be utilized as students create posters for the Wise County Soil and Water Conservation District contest.
Community Partners
Thanks to Mr. Bible from the Wise County Soil and Water Conservation District for his visit to BMS! His knowledge on the importance of pollinators was very interesting. Students are continuing their research on pollinators and will incorporate their newly gained knowledge when creating poster and essay entries for the SWCD contest.
STEMania
LINC Elective students presented at STEMania. Their presentations were "Constructing with Cubelets" and "Pumpkin Construction." The annual STEMania event was held at Weatherford College Wise County. It was a great experience for the LINC students as well as the participating fourth graders!
iBreak Gathering
October's BHS iBreak gathering provided an opportunity for students to interact and gaIn background knowledge about their future guest speaker (see below for more details). We were so focused on our discussion that we were unable to get a photo of everyone before the bell rang!
Gifted Guru at BMS and BHS
The Bridgeport Education Foundation provided a unique opportunity for the GT students of BMS and BHS. Due to the generosity of a BEF grant, students were able to interact in sessions with Lisa Van Gemert. Lisa is also known as the Gifted Guru! At BHS, Lisa presented a session entitled, "The Gifted Brain: An Owner's Manual." The BMS students participated in a session called, "Becoming a Youth Hero." Lisa also shared her knowledge with parents of GT students during a lunch Q&A session. It was a great day at BISD!
