Spring is an exciting time of year for kindergarten and first grade students who have been studying the life-cycles of living things. They patiently observed duck eggs, tadpoles, and larva, respectively, as they went through various stages on their way to becoming ducklings, frogs and butterflies. In all three instances, the experience offers interdisciplinary connections as part of the science curriculum. Children not only make scientific discoveries, but also incorporated language skills by writing about the process, and math skills through activities such as weighing and measuring.
