Parent Drivers: Pick Up and Drop Off Reminders
Parent Drivers: Drop off and Pick up Reminders Our first interest is always the safety of all of our Defer families and staff members and we know it is your interest as well. We appreciate your cooperation with these procedures: We want to encourage our students and families to cross Kercheval and the surrounding streets safely. It is important to use the crosswalks and crossing guards available. It is best if you set up a meeting spot for your family to meet for drop off/pick up. Parents can park away from the building on side streets and walk to the building to meet their children at drop off/pick up. There is No Parking on Kercheval in front of the building. There is No Parking along either side of Nottingham near Defer. Parking on the west side of Nottingham is allowed only during posted times and locations. Since there is no parking anywhere on the east side of Nottingham, parents can drop off students at any point along the full length of Nottingham from Vernor to Kercheval on the Defer side of the street. You do not need to wait until you get in front of the Defer gate to drop off or pick up your child. Please Stop, Drop and Go in the drop off lines! Have students ready to exit the car with masks and backpacks on in the dropoff lane. This will help the traffic to flow smoothly. No left turn onto Kercheval from Balfour, heading toward Defer. Please do not use the Staff Parking lot for drop off or pick up of students (before/after school only).
Attendance Reminder
Parents and Students MUST go over the following checklist each morning before coming to school:
The form will not be turned into school, you can keep it at home for your records.
For more information here is a quick Health Department Public Service Announcement
Students will make sure they have the following things on the checklist:
Lunch Supervisors Needed!
We are looking for more Lunch Supervisors to oversee students during lunch! This can be a paid position or an essential lunch volunteer. We need an adult in every classroom plus supervision out on the playground.
We are in great need for volunteers on Fridays. Please consider helping out.
Essential Lunch Volunteers need to complete a Volunteer Release Inquiry.
Most importantly, we need support in the classrooms while students eat lunch for 25 minutes! Volunteers only need to be here on their child’s cohort day.
Kindergarten 11:00 am
First Grade 11:25 am
Second Grade 11:00 am
Third Grade 12:00 pm
Fourth Grade 12:25 pm
Essential Volunteers are requested to check in the office at lunch and complete the Covid19 Screening.
Please contact Dr. Rheaume or Mrs. Krotche (432-4003) if you are able to support us in keeping our students safe. Please consider helping out in your child’s classroom!

Defer PTO
PTO Meetings Please join us at the monthly PTO meetings. Meetings will be held on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 7pm. All are welcome. The November meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 10th at 7PM. This will be a virtual meeting. The Zoom meeting details will be sent out by 5pm on the day of the meeting. School Directory and PTO Membership The PTO is finalizing the 2020-2021 directory, but it is not too late to purchase a printed directory and PTO membership. The directory is an invaluable resource for parents to plan playdates, setup carpools, or coordinating school activities. It also supports the PTO to continue our mission of enhancing the academic environment at Defer. Purchase a copy today and support your PTO! https://checkout.square.site/buy/R335OJZOH2XR75TOLMMLAFQZ. If you are unsure if you purchased a copy already, please contact Stephen Justin smjustin01@gmail.com Defer PTO-Help Wanted! Are you looking for ways to get involved with Defer for the 2020-2021 school year? Even though school looks different this year, there are still many ways to get involved! The Defer PTO is looking for volunteers to chair various committees this year. Volunteers are also needed to help plan and organize details for each committee. This is a great way to meet other parents within the Defer community. Many of these opportunities allow for working parents to be involved. Please review the various opportunities to be involved this year by clicking on the link below. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/508044EAAAD29A3F85-defer Ways to Receive Information from PTO Defer PTO loves to keep you informed not only about PTO happenings, but also with updates related to school, information from Dr. Rheaume and from the district. Here are 3 different ways to receive information from PTO.
