Compare and Contrast

Conductors, semiconductors, and Insulators all do something to the flow of electrons. Conductors have very little resistance. Semiconductors have a medium amount of resistance. Insulators have very high resistance.

Examples

Conductors
  • Water
  • copper
  • Iron

Semiconductors
  • Silicon

Insulators
  • Glass
  • Dry air
  • Rubber

Daily Life

You find a conductor when you go to the pool.

You find a semiconductor when you use a computer.

You find an insulator on the outside of your phone charger.
