Welcome Back!
Welcome to the 2018-19 school year! We hope this newsletter finds you rested, relaxed, and well connected with your family. Although the pace has felt slower, the building has been buzzing all summer long with teachers collaborating and setting up classrooms, cleaning crews, and various other projects. Now we get to look forward to the hallways and classrooms being filled with the buzz of eager students!
As we prepare to welcome students back to school in a little over two weeks, we have a few new faces to welcome to our staff also! Please take a look below to learn a little bit more about these wonderful additions to our team.
We look forward to seeing you all here on August 6 to meet your teachers and see your classrooms then again on August 8 for the first day of school!
Warmest regards,
Andrew Foreman
Principal
Kandiss Carroll - 4th Grade
My name is Kandiss Carroll, and I am thrilled to join the Eagle Elementary School family as the new Fourth Grade teacher! This will be my 6th year teaching, but my first year teaching fourth grade!
I was born and raised in Indianapolis, and I have lived in various parts of the city and surrounding communities. I earned my undergraduate degree at Indiana University (GO HOOSIERS!) and graduated with the class of 2013. Following that, I earned my Master of Arts in Teaching at Marian University and graduated in May 2015. I have taught in the Tindley Charter Network and in Pike Township. I can't wait to spend the next year working with you all!
Catie Burke - 3rd Grade
Hello! My name is Catie Burke and I am the new third grade teacher at Eagle. I am originally from La Grange, Illinois (a suburb of Chicago) but spent the last four years in Indianapolis studying Elementary Education at Butler University. I am very close with my family and went on a trip with them to Greece over the summer. I loved being able to explore ancient Greece up close through archeological sites and museums. Growing up I always wanted to become a teacher and I am so excited to be fulfilling that goal in such a strong school community. Thanks to everyone for welcoming me to Eagle!

Krista Perman - Developmental Preschool
Hi! My name is Krista Perman but the kids call me “Miss Krista”
I have had the pleasure of teaching for 25 years and am very excited to begin my 26th year…hard to believe! In addition to teaching I worked as an autism & behavior consultant with our special education cooperative for two years. My education includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education and a Master’s Degree in Education Administration from Butler University where I also received an Indiana elementary principal’s license. The desire to become an educator was without a doubt inspired by the amazing teachers I had as a student growing up so when it came time to choose a career I could not imagine being anywhere but school ~ a place I loved as a child. To relax and recharge my batteries I enjoy running, training with weights, yoga, hiking, gardening and traveling. Volunteering to help animals in need is a passion. My dog Reggie and I met 14 years ago while I was volunteering for the Humane Society and we welcomed Tabby cat into our home this summer. I find inspiration in nature and enjoy bringing outdoor elements into the classroom when possible as well as opportunities to be active. Learning should be fun…full of possibilities as children play and explore. We definitely get our brains and bodies moving each day. I look forward to another great year!
