A NEW PLAYGROUND AND STUDIO FOR OUR SCHOOL!
Dear TAPCo Parents & Family Members,
I am very excited for our school community by the offerings for students that we will have within the next two years.
I've recently had many meetings with architects, engineers, and your elected public officials who are all supporting these gains for your child with more options for safe recreation and acquiring further digital skills and knowledge for life.
All of our Arts majors will have involvement with studio in school as their work is recorded. We will also be live-streaming from our indoor stage in the auditorium and our outdoor stage in the rooftop garden. If you are unable to attend a live performance or gallery showing, you can watch it together with your child on cable television or YouTube from the comfort of your home together.
Thank you for choosing us for your child's education. We will continue to work hard to meet their needs with you and at school. It is our privilege and honor to do so.
In order to learn how we are doing and what we can do to serve your child and you better, please complete the online or paper NYC School Survey. If you need your code or any other information about how to complete it, please email or call TAPCo Parent Coordinator Roque Bonilla- rbonilla@schools.nyc.gov, 718-584-0832 extension 3500.
We will also be having a special dinner and family photo booth event for families on Monday, March 29th from 5 to 7 pm who have not yet filled out the NYC School Survey. Take our school survey and afterwards enjoy dinner and receive a free professional photo of you and your family!
Sincerely,
Principal Link

ATTENDANCE!
While our attendance is improving, we still need students present more often more of the time. As I've shared before, your child is more likely to keep up with daily lessons and assignments and take quizzes and tests on time.
Research has shown that your child's regular attendance may be the greatest factor influencing their academic success.
The New York City Department of Education defines chronic absenteeism as missing 10% or more of school over the course of an academic year for any reason (excused or unexcused) which is 2 days missed per month.
TAPCo has created incentives for students who have borderline chronic absenteeism which include trips, pizza parties, and a special program called the CHAMPS program.
SAFETY
Schools across the country have experienced challenges with upticks in disruptive behaviors. To be as prepared as possible, the following are important points:
- Please make sure that your child takes appropriate action during all drills and announcements for directed action to keep them safe.
- Make sure that you a NYSCA account so that we can reach you in the event of an emergency. Please call Parent Coordinator Roque Bonilla if you need assistance in setting up an account. He can be reached at 718-584-0832 extension extension 3500 or rbonilla@schools.nyc.gov.
