EMS Friday Focus
April 5th, 2019 #27
Weekly Message
Team -
The highlight of my week was watching Chase connect by dancing and laughing next to Grace during the BHS Jazz concert. I know this was one of many such moments from the week.
Thank you all for the energy, optimism and continued commitment you bring to EMS each day!
With the SBAC and end of quarter grades upon us next week please take time this weekend to rest and rejuvenate.
In partnership and with gratitude,
Meg
TASKS
April 8th - all grades and comments are due by 5 p.m.
Please be aware - for the next two weeks health classes are discussing suicide and suicide prevention. Please see Pat and Angela with any immediate concerns about individual students. Please review the details of our Immediate Concern Protocol. Please see the monthly Howard message from Emily and Sharon below as well.
The focus for this month’s email is suicide prevention and intervention. Click here to be directed to Howard Center’s guidebook: Suicide Prevention Across the Lifespan; A Resource and Information Guide. This is a resource for the entire community: children, adolescents, families, adults – students, teachers, administrators, you, your families and friends. We encourage you to review and/or share this with anyone who could benefit. This guide does not necessarily prepare you in responding to students (although it could help) but is more of a public health resource. If you would like more information or another copy, please let me know.
This is a challenging subject. Please know that we are here to support you. If you are ever concerned about depression or suicide for you or someone you know, we encourage you to reach out for support. People that can often help are: School Services Clinicians, School Counselors, School Nurses, Primary Care Providers or First Call for Chittenden County at 802-488-7777.
During our inservice ½ day on May 9th we will be holding circles to have difficult conversations. Please email Meg
with topics you feel we need to discuss as a community
or let her know if you would like to have a 1-1 conversation with a colleague.
April 12th - EL sponsored Dance - please reach out to Mark and Amanda about chaperoning!
Tickets will be on sale before and after school
Deadline for Teacher Partner and Team Leader has been extended until the week of April 8th. Please fill out the appropriate form if interested.
Please take a moment to read and reflect on blog entries submitted by your colleagues. This week's entry is "The Inquiry Tree is as Easy as the 5 Es" by Mr. Demink
First faculty member to email me gets my parking spot for next week.
Alternative program - please email Meg If you are interested in joining the planning team or potentially want to be a member of the Teaching team.

He lost both his legs to terrible burns from the knees down. He is now a para Olympian as a sprinter and he helped bomb victims of the Boston marathon with their rehab. He will be inspirational. Maria Jones is our connection for setting it up.
