News from the Counseling Department!
New Counselors!
The NMHS Counseling Department is excited to introduce our new counselors! Ms.Nyssa Bowen and Mr. Devante Washington will be replacing Ms. Kristie Richardson and Mrs. Melody Saffo. Both are eager and ready to serve you and your students this school year! As always, your student’s counselor is based on their last name. The alphabet breakdown is as follows:
Last Names A - E: Devante Washington; devante.washington@dcssga.org
Last Names F - K: Nyssa Bowen; nyssa.bowen@dcssga.org
Last Names L - Q: Pamela Cummings; pamela.cummings@dcssga.org
Last Names R - Z: Teresa Brooks; teresa.brooks@dcssga.org
If you need to meet with your counselor, please schedule an appointment with him/her directly. The beginning of the school year is a highly active time with getting students registered and settled into their classes. Thus, a response to your email or voicemail message may be delayed. Additionally, individual meetings with your student’s counselor will begin after September 7th.

Mrs. Pamela Morris is the College and Career Center Specialist. If you need assistance with an SAT/ACT test waiver, work permit, applying to the CCI, or requesting a copy of your official transcript please contact Mrs. Morris at pamela.morris@dcssga.org.

Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences
If you would like to meet with all of your student’s teachers during a single meeting, a Parent-Teacher-Student conference may be scheduled through your student’s counselor. Appointment times will be either before or after school and may be virtual or in-person. One-to-one meetings or phone calls may be scheduled directly with your child’s teacher. Meetings will not be scheduled until after September 7th.
Attendance
Strong attendance is vital to your child’s academic success, however, we understand that he/she may not always be present. If you know that your child will be absent for an extended-period of time and you would like to request their school work, please notify their counselor. Daily attendance matters should be handled through the Attendance Office or by contacting your child’s teachers directly.
