Monk Fryston Weekly News 8.1.21

We know that this week has not at all been the way that we planned! Thank you for your support and understanding whilst we adjust to the changes that we have needed to put in place. We have worked extremely hard to implement our contingency planning and we are very pleased with how quickly we have been able to make adjustments. We are still making changes and ask that you bear with us if you find something isn’t quite right yet.

Ofsted

You may have heard the Secretary of State announce to parliament that parents can write to Ofsted if they are concerned about remote learning. We know that we have a large volume of support for our offer and he appears to have omitted to outline a procedure for recognising this with Ofsted. I would therefore strongly encourage you to show your support by emailing enquiries@ofsted.gov.uk or completing the Parentview survey at https://parentview.ofsted.gov.uk/

Office Closed

For the time being, the school office will remain closed. Voicemail and email messages are being picked up from home, and so please do leave a message if you need to contact us and we will attend to it quickly.

Weather warnings

We are currently in the time where school may be affected by the weather. Heavy snowfall may prevent staff from working on site and this would mean full closure (including for children of critical workers) if we cannot ensure their safety either due to a hazardous environment or a lack of appropriate supervision. If this is the case, we will let you know by text and announcements on local radio as early in the morning as we are able. Staff will continue to work from home and so remote learning and communication would continue.

September 2021 Reception Class Place.

The deadline for applications for a school place next year is 15th January. If you know someone who has a child that is due to be in Reception in September, please encourage them to apply for their place before this deadline.

Starting School in September?

As you know, we are unable to show visitors around our school at the moment. We know that families are looking for schools for children starting in September 2021 and so we have put a short video tour on our website to help show how our school works. If you know a family who might like to apply for a place next year do encourage them to look at the website, or speak to the office.

Reporting a positive Covid result out of hours.

Should you believe your child to have Covid-19 symptoms and need to go into self-isolation, please notify the school office in the usual way via phone or email.

Should you receive a ‘test positive’ result for your child it is VITAL that you notify us as soon as possible: During school hours – directly to the school office via 01977 682388.

Out of hours send an email to covid@mf.starmat.uk (stating student’s full name and class, contact phone number, date and time of positive Covid test result – please use TEST POSITIVE in the title)

It is VITAL that you let us know as soon as you possibly can so that we can implement contingency planning.

Don’t forget that our school has registered with the Covid Symptom Study to help monitor the spread of the virus.
