Greetings from Administration

Happy Sunday Gator Families,

We had another awesome week at school. We kicked off the week with a dress rehearsal performance from our 4th/5th grade instrumental students. They have been working hard to learn their songs and solos, it was awesome to see them perform for their peers. Tuesday we hosted Safety Day! Now THAT was a day we won't soon forget. Huge thank you to Mrs. Kolano, Mrs. Hagstrom and The Meyers Family for coordinating the whole event! We had vehicles and first responders from all over putting on demonstrations for our students. Everyone especially loved watching the helicopter land on our field.


With 5 weeks of school, we still have a lot of learning left to do! Please be sure all students arrive to school on time and ready to learn. Our 4th/5th graders start promptly at 7:43am and our Tk-3rd graders begin at 7:53am. All students who arrive after this time will need to report to the office for a late pass. Thank you for doing your part in the drop off circle to ensure all students get to class on time.


Photo Release Forms

Please continue returning your yellow photo release forms. We are collecting and keeping a list in the office to best support family preference. If you have questions or need a new copy, please come by the front office.

Tomorrow we begin our third week of state testing. Please talk with your student about doing their very best work. This is an opportunity for them to show what they know. We encourage students to get a good nights sleep each night. Remind students to breath deeply and use positive self talk- "I am doing the best I can, and my best is terrific." and "I have enough time." We know they are prepared and we believe in them. GO GATORS!


WE NEED YOU!

We have 2 openings for Noon Supervisors!! Come join our team to help support student success during lunch. The position is 5 days a week for a total of 7.5 hours. Volunteer Opportunities

You've heard the saying....."It takes a village to raise a child" We are looking for volunteers to support students during lunch recess. PBIS/Soul Shoppe at GGES

On Tuesday May 7th our 3rd Soul Shoppe assembly will be taking place in the Library. Students have now learned how to "Check In" and "Stop and Breathe". Tuesday's assembly will cover the "Clean Up". This tool is used when students are calm and able to talk through what they need to move forward. Talk with your students about the strategies they are learning at our assemblies and how they can implement them both at school and at home.

PlayWorks- Recess Reboot

Playworks continues to be a success at GGES! This week, Coach Dan trained 16 Junior Coaches to help out during recess and lunch. Our 4th/5th grade coaches have learned how to set up game areas, organize and run inclusive playground activities, and support students through disagreements. 4 coaches support students during all morning and afternoon recesses. It is truly a delight to watch our kids in a leadership role. We are looking for a volunteer to lead our Junior Coaches in a once a week, 20minute check- in session. If you are interested please reach out to Ms. Koontz for more details. In the mean time ask your students what their new favorite game is........

General PTA Meeting

Please join us at 7:50am on Tuesday May 21 for our monthly PTA meeting. We will meet in the multi-use room to discuss upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, and what’s been going on at the executive board meetings. We need your vote on next year's board members! Every voice counts! See you there!


GGPTA Presents 3rd Annual Gator Gala!

The Gala was an absolute blast with almost 100 guests in attendance we danced, we laughed and we raised money for our Gators. If you were unable to attend, keep an eye out on the Gator Gala Auction website. Any auction items not sold at the event will be available for online bidding. More information to come.


Teacher appreciation

Huge thank you to our families who came out this morning to decorate our campus. Parents and students made our school look festive. Our teachers are going to be so surprised. Thank you to The Foster Family and Mrs. Hagstrom for spending their Sunday in our school garden. You have created a lovely area for our students and staff.

Robert Shearer Preschool

It's the perfect time of year to learn and explore with water. Students have been singing 5 little ducks in circle this week and had a chance to splash around with rubber duckies and water during our sensory-art time! Preschoolers also got the chance to check out Safety Day, all of our future first responders were able to explore the helicopter, ambulance and fire truck! Meeting the K9, Bonnie was a highlight for our little guys.


Extended School Year

Due to our summer roofing project, RSP will not be hosting Extended School Year. All students who are eligible to receive ESY services will attend Sequoia Elementary. Stay tuned for more information about dates and transportation.


Drop Off/ Pick Up Procedures

We need your help to reinstate best practices for preschool drop off and pick up. Parents may not park or pull into the bus circle between 8:00am-2:30pm. Parents should park in a designated parking stall and walk their student to the preschool. If your child starts at 8:30 please bring them to the playground gate where your teachers will be waiting to receive them. 10:40 students should come into the pod and enter the playground from the back double doors. Teachers will be there to greet students. At dismissal, please park and walk to meet your child outside the pod at the appropriate time. Thank you for helping us streamline our procedures. We appreciate your flexibility.


Signing Students Out Early

We understand that life happens and students may need to go home early. To keep our students and campus safe , parents please sign out your child in the office. Parents may not walk to the classroom to get their child without checking into the RSPS office first. Maureen will then work with you and your child's teacher to get you to your student. As a curtesy please let your teacher know if you need to come pick up early.
