CME Tiger Weekly Roar
October 6, 2020
Skyward Wellness Screener needs to be done every day to allow your child to enter the classroom. Please initial the calendar attached to your child's backpack before they arrive on campus each day. This will ensure that they get to class on time and will not be detained.
Face Coverings
For the safety of students, staff, and others, all students and staff are required to wear a face-covering (cloth or disposable, that fully covers their nose and mouth) throughout the day. We understand that it is not possible for children and staff to wear a face-covering at all times, particularly when they are eating or drinking, and other protective measures will be used during these times. At this time Fort Bend ISD is not allowing mask breaks for students and/or staff during the day, including when social distanced at their desks or at recess. Note: Per CDC guidelines, a face shield can be worn in addition to a face covering, but not in place of a face covering.
To Address a Common Question: Can my child wear a gaiter instead of a mask?
FBISD does not say that you cannot wear one, but the CDC does not recommend the use of gaiters at this time. Evaluation of these face covers is on-going but effectiveness is unknown at this time.
Lunches
Students have the option of bringing their own lunch to school or purchasing their own lunch daily.
Out of an abundance of caution while the District operates under pandemic operating procedures, no outside food (pre-packaged or homemade) for students may be brought into schools by delivery from parent/guardian or external vendors. This also includes no outside food for class birthday celebrations (i.e. cupcakes, cookies, etc.).
Cross-contamination and the possibility of a person touching another person’s portion is too great of a risk regarding the spread of Covid-19.
If a student forgets their lunch at home, they may receive a meal from the cafeteria. These will be free of charge through December. Beginning in January, students will be allowed to charge the meal to their account.
Visitors will not be allowed to eat meals with students on campus.
Method of Instruction
Parents had a period of time to request the Method of Instruction for their child. After this window of time closed, classes and staffing were made according to the method chosen for each child during the open choice period. If there are now extenuating circumstances and a change in the method of instruction is needed, a parent will have an opportunity to request a change through the Change Learning Model Selection Custom Form. The following guidelines will be followed.
- Parents contact the front office to make a verbal request for a change in Method of Instruction. 281-634-4120
- The front office will take information and set up a time for the administration to call parent. Parent will share the extenuating circumstance with Administrator.
- If administrator agrees that the request needs to be made prior to the next grading window, administrator will flag the form in Skyward to be opened for the parent and advises the parent to complete the form in Family Access. The form is only opened after the parent has discussed with administration.
- The placement of the student will be determined by the availability of open spaces within our CME homeroom classes. If there is not room currently in one of the homeroom classes on campus, the student could be placed on a waiting list or be placed in a cross entity classroom. (One from another school…whether it be Face-to-Face or online.)

Each family receive email and text clues so they can go on a “hunt” for 6 of the cupcakes on Saturday, October 24. When participants find each cupcake, they will receive a stamp on a Sugar Pass. Once they find all 6 cupcakes, they will come to the Sugar Shack at the FBISD Admin building to pick up a sweet treat (while supplies last) and see if they have won any prizes. Also, if participants post selfies with the cupcakes, and post to Instagram or Twitter with the #fbefcupcakechase they will have a chance to win prizes as well.
