Sunday Message from Mr. Burns

Welcome Back from Winter Break on January 3rd
Message from Mr. Burns
Hi Wims Families,
Happy New Year! I wish you and your family a healthy and rewarding 2024:)
We look forward to seeing the students tomorrow. I hope your family was able to have a relaxing winter break connecting with family and friends:) I enjoyed having my mother and brothers journey down from New York to spend some time with us in Maryland. Being surrounded by family around the holidays is something I always treasure.
Sadly, we had a Wims staff member pass away over the break. Ms. Zara Land was one of our evening building service workers. She had been battling a health issue for the past year. Ms. Zara loved being a part of our Wims team, and we loved her being a member of our team. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family during this difficult time!

Grandparents Day Pictures
There has a been a delay getting the pictures taken at Grandparents Day. However, Lifetouch is printing a free 5 x 7 photo for all our families who got their photo taken. We expect the photos to be delivered to the main office soon. In the meantime, Lifetouch provided us the following link if families wanted to order any additional photos. https://my.photoday.com/gallery/wilson-wims-element

From the PTA Board
Dear Families,
We hope that each of you had a restful Winter Break and a Happy New Year to you all! I can’t believe we are almost halfway through the school year. Please note that our January PTA Meeting has been pushed to next Tuesday, January 9th, due to today’s school closure. We are looking forward to seeing you all in person to kick off 2024 with us! A Zoom link, for those who cannot attend in person, will be shared in next weekend’s Sunday Message.
Now that it’s January, Bingo Night is officially “around the corner!” This was a sold-out event last year and RSVP is required due to space limitations in the Wims cafeteria. Please save the date for Friday, January 19th and RSVP early if you and your family would like to attend. More information on that below. Volunteers are also needed! Registration is also open for the Spelling Bee on February 21st. Registration closes on January 12th, which is just 10 days away, so be sure to register your 3rd, 4th, or 5th grader if they’d like to participate! Finally, we are all set for winter after-school programming, so please read on.
We are looking forward to seeing all that we can accomplish together for our Wims Community for the remainder of the school year. Have a Wonderful Wildcat (short) Week!
