NEWS FOR PARENTS
From the Counseling Office
The Counseling Office is making some changes so that we can better serve the mission of Annapolis High School. We will be implementing an Intentional Counseling Program which will align with Common Core and the mission of both Annapolis High School and AACPS. What this means for your students is they will be seeing us more. We will be going into classrooms doing lessons or doing individual counseling or small group. We are looking forward to working closely with your students to achieve our Program Goals.
1. Promote achievement, attendance, and behavior for all students.
2. Promote 21st century skills to empower students to achieve
3. Focus on 9th & 10th grade on college and career readiness skills
Due to our increased focus on intentional counseling we will not be available for drop-in visits from parents. We will, still be available by appointment to see you. To do this, please email or call your students School Counselor. On Tuesdays, we will have a counselor here to answer generalized questions. As always, for specific questions, you should contact your student’s counselor directly.
If there is an emergency of any kind please call and talk to Ms. Delaney and she will notify your child’s counselor or Counselor of the Day who takes any emergency cases when their assigned counselor is occupied.
This will be a positive move toward preparing all of our students’ for college and career readiness. Thank you for your assistance with our change. We appreciate your support in our move to an “Intentional Counseling Program.”
