As a reminder, Spring Break is coming up next week. School will closed March 14-18. We look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Monday, March 21st.

Coming up in April, please also note that we are closed for both Good Friday and Easter Monday (April 15 and 18)

The board approved updates to our 2021-2022 calendar. You'll note that the the main change takes place in June. June 20th is a new closure date due to the observation of Juneteenth, a new federal holiday. In addition, VBS will take place the week of June 6-10. If you are interested in signing your child up for VBS that week, be on the lookout for more information coming in March about how to register for this program through the St. David's Children's ministry.

Our beloved Assistant Director, Colette Dunlap gave birth to her beautiful baby girl, Tessa on 2/22/22 at 2:22 am. While Colette is home, Tessa was born early and is being well cared for at Dell Children's Hospital. During the next couple of months, Colette and family will be back and forth to the hospital every day. Her St. David's community is organizing this meal train to help her family with the ease of meal prep during this time.

We've organized meal drop off until the end of April in anticipation that Colette and family will be more settled at home by this time. If you are able, you can access the Meal Train calendar here and sign up for a day and meal so that others can see what dates are still available and people can see what others are bringing as well so they don't end up with a dozen lasagnas:) Colette has requested a combination of either meals that can be frozen and reheated or a donation to doordash, uber eats or grubhub. Cooked meals can be delivered directly to the school at drop off or pick up and we have staff members who will coordinate delivery to her for that day. It's so wonderful to be part of a community who cares for one another and we thank you all for your kind words, well wishes and prayers that have poured forth already.

Colette also has a baby registry through Amazon. Any items purchased here will be directly shipped to her home. Or if you have other new or gently used items for preemies such as clothing, blankets, caps, or anything that may have been especially useful to you, we are taking donations here at the school. You can drop off any items with Leigh or Kate in the mornings and we will be happy to coordinate drop off to Colette at her home. Please be sure to write who the items are from so we can show our gratitude and appreciation for your generosity.

Please join me in welcoming two new employees to the SDDS community:

Julia Pierce, a new assistant teacher in the Little Stars classroom graduated from Anderson High School in 2021 and is excited to learn all about our Twos!

Chelsea Stoerner is a new co-lead in the afternoons with our Little Llamas and Little Owls classroom. Chelsea studied creative writing and theater at UTD and is certified to teach EC-6th grade in Texas. She has served as a Pre-K teacher, taught Kindergarten, and served as a tutor and caregiver in various camps and programs.

Ruth Ponder, sister to both Lucy and Hank, was baptized on February 22 right here at St. David's Episcopal Church. Our Pre-K and Montessori classrooms were invited to attend the baptism and were a very curious and respectful audience at this service. Congratulations to the Ponders and a sincere thank you for the invite to this very momentous occasion.

Last year, SDDS hosted our first ever summer camp for elementary-aged students (6-12) The camp was such as success that we will be again hosting 2 week sessions throughout the summer starting on Monday, June 13. If you have older siblings and are looking for a fun and convenient opportunity for your older children this summer, look no further! Only 20 openings are available and spots will fill up fast, so be sure to register soon!

SDDS has some spots to fill in our 2 - 5 year old classrooms and we want to reach out to you, our biggest fans, and reward you for your referrals. That’s right! When someone you refer enrolls at SDDS, you’ll receive a $250 discount on your next month’s tuition!

Our enrollment application now has a question added so your friends and neighbors can let us know you referred them to SDDS. Once they’ve enrolled, you’ll receive the discount for each family you referred after the end of their first month.
