Murphy Lions Lead the Way in 2015 - 2016

This year was Murphy Elementary's first year as a Leader In Me building. We have worked to incorporate student leadership in all that we do. Below you will see some of the greatest groups of leaders we have ever met! We look forward to expanding our building level leadership roles to engage and involve the students in all that we do here at Murphy Elementary.

Murphy Attendance Leaders!

One of the building goals this year was for each student to track their attendance percentage individually and then report out as a class. We kept track each day and post our percentage by grade level and by building. Our goal is that 95% of students are here and learning, the classes with the highest percentages are recognized and celebrated at our monthly goal assemblies.

This could not be possible without the work of our attendance leaders! They meet in the office every day and gather the attendance data, organize it in a spreadsheet and then post it for the entire building to see.

Recycling Leaders!

Students are responsible for organizing recycling days and making sure our classrooms and hallways are free of trash. They gather recycling throughout the building and take it to the dumpsters. Thank you recycling leaders for keeping our building clean and helping the environment!

Bus Leaders

At the end of each day, these students greet students in front of their bus. They hold up a sign with that bus number to make sure students are on the correct bus. Awesome job Bus Leaders, thank you for greeting everyone with a smile and making sure they get home safely!

Flag Leaders

Students are responsible for hanging the flag each morning and bringing it in at the end of the day. Thank you flag leaders for being so responsible and helping Murphy honor our great country!

Music Leaders

Students from varied grade levels had the opportunity to organize movements to We Can Roar and help classrooms learn the new choreography. Students did a great job of leading the student body at our leadership assemblies.

Assembly Leaders

Students had the job of checking the agenda, making sure students are in order to present, set-up chairs, manage microphones, monitor audience attention and take care of classroom posters for the reading assemblies. These students did a great job running our monthly celebration assemblies.

Murphy Paparazzi

Students took pictures at all school and classroom events. They created a YouTube video and other videos displaying all of the pictures they have taken. All of the picture slide shows that are shared are the work of our Paparazzi crew! They are so talented!

Little Boosters

One student from each grade level organized special events for the school: Volunteer Lunch, Leadership Day, Field Day and other fun activities. We had such fun at them all!

Lost and Found Leaders

Students organized the display of lost and found items and also took the items around to classrooms periodically to ask students if they recognize them and claim them. Thanks for helping all of our lost items be found!

Library Leaders

There were 2 students this year who were morning Library Leaders for the library. They came in first thing in the morning to make sure laptops were on and ready for that day's lessons, they made deliveries to classrooms, and helped put away fiction library books. Several students in Mrs. Barnard's class also took on the role of Adopt-A-Shelf Leaders. At the end of their library class, these students worked hard to organize and straighten their designated shelf area. Thank you for making our library shine!
