Principal's Message
We had our first rainy day this week and drop-off went pretty well. We always expect more cars during drop-off/pick-up on rainy days. Thank you all for your patience.
It is important for students to attend school each day. Our district slogan is Every Student Every Day. When students attend school each day, they benefit from receiving targeted instruction from their teachers and specialist and don't have to worry about making up work. Good attendance is a habit that we should build as soon as students start school.
With the flu season rapidly approaching, be sure to teach your student healthy habits such as washing their hands regularly and coughing/sneezing into their elbow.

Walking Club will start on September 23rd!!
Walking Club is a hugely popular recess activity at Murwood. And who wouldn’t love it? You get to walk the Murwood track and get colorful or sparkly feet as a reward. The more you walk, the bigger the reward for your health and your stash of goodies! You can earn a water bottle, a t-shirt, a pedometer, a jump rope, and a gift card.
If you complete 4 marathons, the Mayor will personally greet you and award you with a certificate!! Walking Cub promotes exercise and is a safe place for kids to find an alternate activity should they need one. Kids use it to walk off steam, for a private chat, or for fun with friends.
Walking Club will take place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 11:30am-12:40pm. We need volunteers on all days, but especially on Mondays and/or Fridays. You will help to monitor and encourage the kids (it gets busy!), manage the cards, and handle reward distribution. Please email Heather Sosa at heatherrn8880@gmail.com if you're interested in helping.

September is National Suicide Awareness Month - Why Wellness Matters
Two years ago, the Las Lomas Wellness Center was created to provide early intervention as administrators saw an increase in missed school time due to stress, anxiety and other issues. They saw an alarming trend and responded to better ensure a safe learning environment. WCEF was asked to support salary costs for the Center, and have continued to do so for the last two years. In WCSD, the powerful program “Say Something,” part of Sandy Hook Promise, will be introduced to help build a community of those “looking out for one another.” WCEF is proud to support our districts, who make the well-being and safety of your children a priority.

Pick up the phone, and call Extreme Pizza for lunch or dinner. Delivered piping hot? Yep! Take and bake at home, that too! Or dine in. Mention WCEF and our schools recoup 20%. Now who’s the smart cookie?
