Strategic Planning For The District

It's that time again when the school district begins to plan for the next five years. It is an important process that occurs in order to make sure that we are on the right track. The community (YOU!) can be involved in the process. First, if you haven't done so, take the community survey that is below on this newsletter. Second, come to the Community Conversation which will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014. The event will be held in the Lawrence HS Commons. Doors open at 6:30 with light refreshments and the event begins at 7 PM. Register here to attend the conversation.

No Worksheet Day

On Wednesday, Nov. 5, students participated in No Worksheet Day. NWD is designed to challenge teachers to step outside the box and take risks in their teaching. They are encouraged to do something new and different and rewarded with student engagement. Although, we try to do this every day, I decided to emphasize it on this day and really challenge teachers. The came through in a variety of ways including hands on science experiments, plays about Lawrence history and doing vocabulary words on the blacktop. Cheers to our staff and students. It was a great day.

Check out the Home/Parent Toolkit. It offers a lot of suggestions on how to help your child at home, what your child is learning in school and anything else you want to know about developmentally appropriate school/home connections. It also can be switched into a Spanish version
