Kate Klise Author Visit

November 11, 2013

Two presentations

She will present a 35-minute session with the 2nd and 3rd graders about how she started creating books as a kid and how anyone can write a book if he or she knows the secret recipe for storytelling.

And a 50-minute session with students in grades 4-5 in which she will discuss the creative process. Sharing with young authors her early failures and how she discovered (the hard way) what makes a good story, how important it is to send a character on an interesting journey, the critical OH NO moment in any good story, and why writing is really rewriting.

Schedule of events

  • 9:10 until 10:05 presentation to fourth and fifth graders
  • 10:20 until 10:55 presentation to second and third graders
  • 11:00 until 11:30 book signing. Students must bring in their own copy for signing. (Books can be purchased online or at Barnes and Noble, but not through the school)
