2 things that cause Satan torment are lost happiness and lasting pain. Also fate had more punishment in store for him.

"Both of lost happiness and lusting pain torment him" (line 55-56)

"Fate had more punishment in store for him" (line 53-54)


Satan sees his fallen angels filled with dismay as well as mixed obdurate pride and steadfast hate.
"That witness huge affliction and dismay, mixed with obdurate pride and steadfast hate." (line 57-58)


Satan sees Beelzebub weltering by his side.
"One next himself in power, and next in crime, long after known in Palestine, and named Beelzebub" (line 80-81)
