HAUTAPU SCHOOL PANUI
13 May 2022
Week 2, Term 2
Message from our Board of Trustees
Kia ora parents, caregivers, and whanau.
Term 2 sees some normality return to the school as we invite parents back onto school grounds under orange covid settings. Masks are still encouraged but no longer mandated, allowing our children and staff freedom of choice. It’s exciting to know that under orange conditions, school camps are all go!
This term our teachers will be busy preparing reports for parents and whilst we won’t be holding formal meetings, we do encourage parents to book a one-on-one with teachers to discuss your child’s progress.
Don’t forget the upcoming Teacher Only days on Fri 3rd June and Fri 17th June. These days are important for the continued professional development of our teachers.
In September 2022, three parent representative positions will be elected to our school board.
Have you ever considered joining but not sure what’s involved? Attend the BoT meeting being held at 6pm, 19th May at the school, to see how it works or talk to one of our board members about what their role entails.
Parents/caregivers and people in the wider community can be parent representatives. School boards need to represent the diversity of their school communities to ensure a bright future for all our children. We need more people willing to use their skills and experiences for the benefit of students!
Presiding Member, Board of Trustees
Congratulations to our certificate winners!

Hautapu School is lucky enough to have Life Education working with us again this year. Our students will be focusing on the following topics:
Relationships and Communities/Identity and Resilience
Food and Nutrition
The social environment is complex but having some strategies to explore when we find ourselves in uncomfortable situations gives us confidence to stand up to unwanted pressure. Learning the skills involved in decision making empowers us to make the best decision that we can in different situations. It enables us to consider the consequences before we commit to something we might otherwise regret.
When: Wednesday 18th May – Wednesday 25th May
Cost: $6 (for students in Year 0-6) and $8 (for students in Year 7/8)
Please pay for your child(ren) via Kindo

The new Hautapu Saddle blankets look very smart too.
Thank you to the Tankard Whanau.
St John's Visit
On Tuesday and Wednesday all our classes had a visit with Jess from St John's. We had great learning with her and how to keep ourselves safe from poisons, on our bikes and on the playground. She was super impressed with our Tamariki.
Jess and St John's donated first aid kit and gave us a certificate as part of the Make it Safe May promotion.
Thanks St John's and ASB.
