Reflections From the Principal
I will be late to school on Tuesday, January 7th, as I have to take my daughter to another doctor's appointment at 8 am. I hope to be at school by 10 am. Also, on Friday (January 10th) I will be out most of the day for a meeting at the Indiana Association of School Principals office in Indianapolis. As always, I'm available by phone, email, or text.
Have a great week!
Ashley
Great Things I Saw This Week
Lastly, I wanted to share data on the increase in teacher emergency permits in Indiana from 2012-2019. In December, Dr. McCormick tweeted that there were 859 emergency permits in Indiana in the year 2012. For the 2018-2019 school year, there were 3,812 emergency permits granted to unlicensed teachers in Indiana. This amounts to a 344% increase in teacher emergency permits in 7 short years. If this data doesn't show the serious shortage of teachers in Indiana, then I'm not sure what will.
