Senior Portraits (Next Week)

A reminder that Senior Essentials Day for senior portraits is Tuesday, October 29th at the high school. Students will be given time slots according to the students study hall, aide period, OVLA, or electives as we are doing everything possible not to remove them from a core academic class.

If you are a student that is NOT in the building on a Black Day you must email Mrs. Bowers (dbowers@otsegoknights.org) to let her know what time that day you can be in the building so she can save you a time slot. Please do this immediately so if you are limited on your availability you can get your chosen time.

If you are unable to make it to school at all on the 29th you may call the Lifetouch studio at Levis Commons (419) 872-7550 to schedule your FREE portrait sitting and proofs before December 1, 2019.

One School, One Book.

Chop Wood, Carry Water is the book we have selected this year as our One School, One Book read. Students will be encouraged to read and focus on one chapter a week, that's right just ONE. Each chapter is only 1-3 pages long. At the beginning of each week, I will email guided notes and, thoughts, challenges, and reflection questions for each chapter. I am looking forward to falling in love with the process of becoming great this year with our students and staff.

Athletics Department

Practice Good Sportsmanship

All parents of athletes are encouraged to read this. CLICK HERE

If you are a parent attending a high school athletic event this year, you can help by following these six guidelines:

  1. Act Your Age. You are, after all, an adult. Act in a way that makes your family and school proud.

  2. Don’t Live Your Life Vicariously Through Your Children. High school sports are for them, not you. Your family’s reputation is not determined by how well your children perform on the field of play.

  3. Let Your Children Talk to the Coach Instead of You Doing It for Them. High school athletes learn how to become more confident, independent and capable—but only when their parents don’t jump in and solve their problems for them.

  4. Stay in Your Own Lane. No coaching or officiating from the sidelines. Your role is to be a responsible, supportive parent—not a coach or official.

  5. Remember, Participating in a High School Sport Is Not About Getting a College Scholarship. According to the NCAA, only about 2% of all high school athletes are awarded a sports scholarship, and the total value of the scholarship is only about $18,000.

  6. Make Sure Your Children Know You Love Watching Them Play. Do not critique your child’s performance on the car ride home. Participating in high school sports is about character development, learning and having fun—not winning and losing.
