Psychological First Aid for Schools-SSSSC
Psychological First Aid (PFA) is an evidence-informed intervention strategy for helping students, families, school personnel, and school partners through response and recovery after any incident. PFA is designed to reduce initial distress caused by emergencies and foster short-term and long-term adaptive functioning and coping skills. Support from informed, compassionate, and caring professionals can help students and staff members process a broad range of early reactions following an incident. STAAR ALT 2: Preparation & Logistics
This presentation will include information about STAAR Alternate 2 participation requirements and the ARD process, sample items, accommodations, test administration policy, and instructional guidance for preparing students for the assessment.

Perfecting Your Preview Window
This session is a must for teachers new to administering SA2 and/or veteran teachers needing extra time to plan for SA2. In this 1/2 day session, participants will plan out their STAAR ALT 2 preview window before test administration. We will cover what is allowable in the preview window, look at testing accommodations, adapting STAAR ALT 2 released tests, practice the script, and use different documentation tools to optimize the preview window. Participants will leave with a planned preview window to implement.

Shorty’s Snack and Learn is a TEKS-based program that gives students and families an opportunity to enjoy a snack while participating in fun, learning activities. This Schulenburg ISD event is held at a local park, located within the heart of the community, near the residences of many of our economically disadvantaged families making it easily accessible. Shorty’s Snack & Learn brings the learning experience directly to students, providing a comfortable environment tailored to their needs.
