Raising Awareness for Mental Health - Bell Let's Talk Day
Bell lets Talk day is approaching in the week to come. This initiative promotes mental health education, research, awareness, and ending social stigmas. With over a quarter of Canadians expressing a feeling of discomfort when around an individual with poor mental health, the Bell Let's Talk initiative encourages Canadians to rethink and learn more about the judgments they associate with the 20% of the population that has been diagnosed with a mental illness. On January 30th please wear Sandals, Sunglasses, and Shorts to show your support with this movement.
Our OLMP High school Leadership students are organizing more focus around this topic during a week of education and awareness at the end of February. More details to come.

Book Recommendation
Book Recommended: Perfectly Yourself: Discovering God’s Dream for You
Author: Matthew Kelly (NY Times best-selling author)
Recommended by: Mary Tien (St. Francis parishioner)
Book Description: This life-changing book addresses the opportunities and obstacles we encounter when we decide to ask life's BIG questions: Who am I? What am I here for? Full of powerful and practical lessons. Matthew Kelly shows us how to find lasting happiness in a changing world. It's a book for all of us who long to be at peace with who we are, where we are, and what we are doing, not in some distant tomorrow, but here and now today.
Why it is recommended:
Are we still the consumers, or are we being consumed? Look around. Everything has a brand on it these days! The proliferation of brands has powerfully impacted our psyche. Brands were first used on cattle and slaves. Both signify ownership. Do we own the brands or do the brands own us?
Do you ever get the feeling that you are not enough? You are enough! You have enough brains, talent, beauty, soul and love to live the incredible life God created you to live. So, what are you waiting for?
Embrace being perfectly yourself and do something today!
God’s dreams for you and me go far beyond what the world has to offer. Let us seek to discover once more to be perfectly ourselves.
Modeling reading, reading with your children, and talking about the things they like to read are all ways to increase literacy and learning for our youth!
