HFRCS Newsletter SY 2022-2023

February 14, 2023 - Vol.2 Issue 24

From the Principal's Office

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope everyone enjoys this special day which invites us to pause and thank God for everyone in our life that we love.

We are at the approximate midpoint of the second trimester. At this time, parents should be checking the FACTS Family Portal for grades and overall achievement thus far in the trimester. Please contact your child’s teacher if you have any concerns or questions. And always, encourage your child to do their very best, every day. If you haven’t already done so, directions for how to create a FACTS Family Portal account can be found in today’s newsletter. Report cards will be distributed on Friday, March 17.

Our morning carline drop off procedures are designed so we can have as safe and efficient arrival as possible. Following the drop off procedures ensures safe arrival and any deviation from that compromises student safety. Please review our drop off procedures in this newsletter.

Our Terra Nova testing will begin on Monday, March 6 and will go through to Thursday, March 9. Students in grades 2-7 will take the Terra Nova. This year we are taking the new version of Terra Nova, entitled Terra Nova Next. These tests and the data we receive from these tests provide us with valuable information that can drive teacher instruction. All tests will be given in the morning. It is very important for students to be present and on time for testing. I thank you in advance for your cooperation during Terra Nova testing.

The penitential season of Lent begins on Wednesday, February 22 with Ash Wednesday. Our school will be celebrating Ash Wednesday with Mass at 9:30 AM and the distribution of ashes. Please join us if your schedule permits. More information on our Lenten plans will be shared very soon.

As a reminder, there will be NO SCHOOL on Monday, February 20th as we celebrate Presidents' Day and the faculty has a professional development day.

Sincerely Yours in Christ,

Mrs. Haggerty

Handbook Highlights

Please review the Family Handbook for reference on Morning Carline (pages 15-16):

Students may be dropped off beginning at 7:40 a.m.

Drivers: When entering the parking lot, pull up to the front of the Parish Center where you will be greeted by a staff member. Please do not park and bring your child to the front door. Cars will form in lines in the parish parking lot and will feed to the Parish Center lot. Once your child has exited your vehicle, proceed through the Parish Center parking lot, and exit onto Trenton Road.

IMPORTANT SAFETY REMINDERS:

- For safety reasons and the efficient flow of traffic, parents/drivers must remain in their vehicles. We have staff members who will assist your children out of your vehicle.

- If your child has exited your vehicle but the vehicle in front of you still needs to be unloaded, please stay in line and DO NOT overtake the vehicle in front of you.

- Please DO NOT drop off your child(ren) at the front door when staff members are still available in front of the Parish Center for everyone's safety. If you do, your vehicle will be going against the traffic when you exit the parking lot.

- Please be extra cautious and attentive when exiting the parking lot.
