Red Communication Folders

This week the 2nd grade team tried something new for our math instruction. We targeted students instruction based on their pre-assessments and sent them to different 2nd grade teachers for math. This provided an opportunity for the students to receive instruction specifically on what they needed and also allowed them to experience a different teaching style from a different teacher. This is something our grade level is looking at doing on a weekly basis. In order to group the children we must give pre-assessments to determine where they are and what they need to work on. In your child’s red folder you will find three different math assessments. One is labeled “Pre-Assessment” and the other is labeled “Spotcheck Assessment”. The final post-test is not labeled but has their final grade written on the front; please understand the only assessment that counts is the final one. The pre-assessment and spotcheck assessment were strictly administered to determine where they were and what they needed to work on.

Check the lost and found!

With the weather being chilly in the morning, and many children wearing jackets, please label all garments. Keep an eye on lost and found, if you are missing things. It's really early in the year and adds up fast.

This year we are going to expand our team and invite our students and families to join in the fundraising efforts and the walk. Below is the link...you can search for India Hook Elementary Pirates and click to join. You do NOT have to make a donation today. There is an option to donate later, but this will set you up with an account that you can share with friends and family. If you participated last year, you should still have an account in your name. Please let me know if you have any questions. We are starting earlier this year so we can raise as much money as possible. Last year we raised almost $2,000!!!!!!
