CONVOCATION REMINDER

We will be holding our opening convocation for new students on Thursday, August 26, at 4:00 p.m. on the Perry lawn. First-year undergraduate students are welcomed to the college as we officially start the new academic year. We recognize our Faculty Emeriti, and recipients of both the Lyman Professorship and Francine Page Excellence in Teaching (current and retired). Our 2019 Edward Phelps Lyman Professor, Dr. Eric Ronis, Professor from the Division of Communication and Creative Media, will provide the keynote address. We will also confer the Distinguished Citizen Award.

FACULTY RETURN TO CAMPUS

Vaccinated employees are encouraged to attest to their vaccination status. Unvaccinated employees are required to participate in a weekly testing program and can test at the Student Health Center in Whiting Hall on Mondays 9:00 AM-12:00 PM and Wednesdays 1:00 PM-4:00 PM.

All employees are required to sign the Fall Community Health Pledge.

NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION & SECOND YEAR EXPERIENCE

This year’s New Student Orientation schedule has the Academic Day as Sunday, August 29 (in years past this has been on Saturday). A Second Year Experience has also been added for students who would like to be (re)oriented to our campus. The Academic Divisions will have time with their new students from 10:00AM-12:15PM, and an informal lunch with second-year students starting at 12:15PM on the Aiken Lawn. Watch for more information from your division.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY TO WELCOME STUDENTS!

Move-in crew is a group of returning students, alum, faculty and staff who help welcome the incoming classes to Champlain. If you are interested in really getting to know our students and their families, as well as getting a workout from 6:30AM to 12:00PM, and receive the Move-In Crew 2021 t-shirt, we would greatly appreciate the help! Move-In Crew ensures a quick move-in process to allow for families to move their vehicles from in front of the halls. It is an essential part of the welcoming experience!! Move-in day for our students is truly a community-filled day with excitement and a fun-filled tradition.

FALL 2021 STUDENT RETURN-TO-CAMPUS COVID-19 PROTOCOLS

This message was sent to students on August 17th, which includes action steps prior to arriving on campus and our current policies of distancing and masking. Students need to:

  1. Submit their vaccination documentation to Health Services

  2. Submit a pre-arrival negative test result

  3. Complete the Fall Community Health Pledge

PROCEDURE FOR REQUESTING JOINED CANVAS COURSES

If you are teaching two sections of the same course and you would like your Canvas shells to be joined, please use the new Request to Join Courses form rather than emailing the CLT. This form ensures your request is addressed as quickly as possible. The deadline for requesting joined shells is Wednesday, August 25.

CLT WEBSITE AND SOCIAL MEDIA ANNOUNCEMENT

STUDY ABROAD UPDATE

We have 18 students who will be studying abroad in Dublin this fall. Unfortunately, we did cancel the Montreal program for this fall. We are actively recruiting for both locations for Spring 2022.

A warm welcome to our new international staff!
