PROMOTION CEREMONY FAQS
Our Eighth Grade Promotion Ceremony will be held Friday, June 7th at 8:30 on the blacktop behind Bidwell. The following is a list of tips that we hope will help you ensure that your students take care of things that need to be done to ensure a happy last week of school:
- Appropriate dress is very important for the promotion ceremony. Formal dress is not allowed. Gentlemen are asked to wear nice pants and a collared shirt. It is certainly OK to wear a tie. Ladies, dress in sundresses or something that is of a similar level of formality. High-heeled shoes are not allowed because of safety on the ramp.
- Students need to report for line-up for the ceremony, Friday, June 7th by 7:30 a.m. The processional will start at 8:30 a.m.
- Students must not carry anything in their hands during the ceremony.
- Parents may not enter the student seating area until after the ceremony.
- Students must not leave their seat until the ceremony is over.
- Promotion takes place on the basketball courts. Chairs for the students will be provided but please bring lawn chairs for your family and guests.
- If possible, please do not bring balloons to the ceremony because they obstruct the views of the audience. If you do bring balloons, please take them to Room 408 and you can pick them up after the ceremony.

SPECIAL HONORS
Special congrats goes out to two of our Pioneers, the first being Ryleigh Turri, who was honored at the Butte County Department of Behavioral Health Prevention Unit Awards Night and named the Impact Mentoring Protege of the Year for Butte County. The second student was Milee Bryant, who was named Club Live Officer of the Year for Butte County. We are so proud of these two impressive Pioneers.
HIGH SCHOOL
Are you interested in high school sports? Having a yearly physical is a requirement for participating in high school athletics.
The Butte-Glenn Medical Foundation will be offering $10 physicals at Pleasant Valley starting in Valhalla on Wednesday, May 15th, at 5:30pm OR at Chico High on Wednesday, May 22nd, at 6:00pm starting in Chico High Main Office. Student-Athletes currently in grades 8-11 from any school who plan to play high school sports in CUSD next year may attend either physical.
PV students must download the Physical form (2-sided) from the PV website (under Athletic forms). Chico High students must download the paper Physical or pick up a paper copy at the CHS office. The Physical form completed (all signature lines must be filled out) prior to the physicals. The $10.00 donation for the physical is to help offset the cost of the Athletic Trainer at each site.
STUDYING IS EASIER TOGETHER
As the year comes to a close, students are preparing for some bigger, year-end tests. Students in Ms. Caty's 6th grade science class studied in teams for their big test of the year. We hope those Pioneers brought home some good grades!
