Third Nine Weeks
Standard 1: School Library Media Coordinators demonstrate leadership
- Member of SIT and MTAC
- Attended the second North Carolina Digital Leadership Coaching Network Training in order to become a better Digital Coach; sent Digital Competencies survey to staff
- Maintain school social media and website presence
- Webinar Development Chair for North Carolina School Library Media Association
- Spoke at house meetings about NC Wise Owl and the resources it has for teachers
Standard 2: School Library Media Coordinators build a learning environment that meets the instructional needs of a diverse population of students.
- Continually work on collection development plan to create a library collection that promotes the diversity of our students
- When collaborating with teachers, differentiate to meet each student's needs
- When I do a Book Talk I choose a large variety of books to allow different readers to see themselves and books they may read in the collection
- Have a puzzle and games out for students to use
- Hosted a Parent/Child Book Club using "Insignificant Events in the Life of a Cactus" by Dusti Bowling, which focuses on diversity, disabilities, friendship, and tolerance
- Along with Mrs. Rhodes, received a grant from Teaching Tolerance for a Social Justice book club for next year
Standard 3: School Library Media Coordinators implement a comprehensive 21st Century library media program.
- Teach technology skills (i.e. working with SD cards and flash drives, editing video) to News Crew
- When collaborating, try to incorporate technology to model for teachers
- Did book tastings to promote reading for pleasure
- Collaborated and co-taught Cyberbullying/Digital Citizenship lesson with Mrs. Rhodes
Standard 4: School Library Media Coordinators demonstrate knowledge of learners and learning and promote effective instructional practices.
- Coach the Battle of the Books team - had our district-level competition
- Create (or have Media Assistants create) fun and engaging book displays
- As students come in for check-out, do book talks and suggest books to encourage reading for pleasure
Standard 5: School Library Media Coordinators reflect on their practice.
- Created this document to make sure I am following my standards and see what I could improve upon
- Went to NCTIES to improve my teaching/leadership skills
