If you, or someone you know, is a Native American student that goes above and beyond at school, work, volunteering, or some other activity please email me at taylorh@tahlequahschools.org. We would love to spotlight in this newsletter.

Tutoring

If you are a student, or a parent or teacher of a student, that would benefit from an online tutoring resource, email me or come by my office in room 222 at the high school to set it up. Online tutors can help in any subject, AP classes and exams, and ACT prep.

Indigenous People's Day Celebration

Cherokee Nation Angel Project 2022

The 2022 Cherokee Nation will be taken throughout the Cherokee Nation Reservation during a series of drive-thru events that begin this week. The event for Tahlequah will be Tuesday, October 11 from 1pm-6pm at the One Fire Field west of the Complex.


Applications will also be available online beginning Oct. 7 through Nov. 4. The link to sign up online is here: https://webapps.cherokee.org/angeltree.


The Cherokee Nation Angel Project provides gifts for Cherokee children through age 16 who live within the 14-county Reservation and meet income guidelines. In recent years, the annual program provided gifts to nearly 3,000 children during the holiday season.

FAFSA Opened October 1st!

Seniors make sure you fill out your FAFSA as early as possible for financial aid for next fall. The application opens on October 1st! The link to the application is below.

Senior Cap and Gown

JOM Seniors, check the flyer below from Jostens to see how to order your cap and gown for graduation. JOM will pay $30 towards the purchase of your cap and gown if you are a JOM approved student. If you have any questions you may come by the JOM office, room 222 and talk to Mrs. Taylor or Coach Ray.

Choctaw Star Program

The Choctaw Nation STAR Program application is now available through Chahta Achvffa, the Choctaw Nation’s official member portal. Parents and guardians can now apply for rewards for their students in 2nd - 12th grade for the Spring semester, providing final semester grades. NOTE: Individual schools will no longer apply for STAR rewards on the student’s behalf. #cnostarstudent https://www.choctawnation.com/services/star/

Applications are now submitted using the Gadugi Portal. If you need any help with this please come by the JOM office, room 222.

ACT test information

Eligible JOM High School students who register, pay for, and take the ACT test have the opportunity for a $30 reimbursement once per school year. For more information please see Coach Ray or Mrs. Taylor in Room 222 at the High School.
