2022-2023 CVCS School Year Theme
Luceat Lux Vestra. (Let your light shine.)
Luceat Lux Vestra or Let your Light Shine is the theme for Cedar Valley Catholic Schools for the
2022-2023 school year. In Matthew 5:16 we read “Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.”
We would like to invite our CVCS families to join us as we embrace this theme into our school
masses, teaching, and activities planned throughout the upcoming school year. You will be seeing examples of students and staff letting their light shine brightly through many of these initiatives at each of our campuses. God calls us to let our light shine, how will you let your light shine?

Welcome Back
Each year I begin by meeting with students from all grade-levels, the presentation I give focuses on discipline and handbook procedures-- it is important that students all begin the year with an understanding of expectations.
While my initial presentation focuses on discipline-- I want to express to everyone the excitement I have to see students in the building again. The enthusiasm of students and staff is refreshing and truly a blessing!
Remind:
All family phone numbers / emails which are registered in PowerSchool will be included in our Remind application. This app is utilized for our weather emergency communications as well as whole school reminders. This application will be up to date as of Labor Day and test communications will occur. If at any point throughout the course of the school year your phone number changes please be sure to communicate this information with the office of your students school.
Grandparents Day Mass
This is scheduled for September 6th. This will be an 9:00 Mass. We are finalizing our timeline for this date and details will be shared via email.
Activity Passes
Student activity passes are available for purchase in the CHS office. Students wanting to purchase an activity pass will need to pay $50 to MRs. Skilling in the office. Please be sure to bring your student ID with you- it will be punched to denote that the student has a pass.
If you believe you have already purchased an activity pass check with Mrs. Skilling.
Yearbooks
Yearbooks for the upcoming school year (22/23) are now available for pre-order. This is the lowest price they will ever be, so get your orders in now! Yearbooks start at $55 now through September 16th. After that, they will go up to $65. Click Here to Order!
Food Service
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the government provided waivers for schools to provide free meals to ALL students. Sadly, these waivers expired on June 30, 2022. This means we must charge for school meals. The cost for breakfast is $3.75 and $4.50 for lunch. You can utilize EZSchoolPay.com to add money to your child's account.
There are still ways for students to receive free meals. Some children are automatically eligible for free meals if anyone in their household gets SNAP, TANF, or FDPIR benefits. You can also fill out an application to see if you qualify. Students experiencing homelessness, in foster care, runaway youth, or children of migrant workers all qualify for free meals. You can go to EZMealApp.com to apply and see if your family qualifies.
Internet Savings
The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), which provides eligible households up to $30/month toward their internet bills, as well as a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet. All households with a child who was approved to receive free or reduced price school meals under the National School Lunch Program or the School Breakfast Program, within the last 12 months are eligible for ACP benefits. Households are also independently eligible if (1) their income is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level ($55,500 for a family of four); or (2) a member of the household participates in certain other Federal benefit programs—including, among others, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), Medicaid, and Federal Public Housing Assistance.
Families can check their eligibility, sign up, and find fully covered plans at GetInternet.gov (mobile-accessible and available in Spanish) or by calling 877-384-2575.
